I would love for Michael bush and Leon Washington to be the jets 1-2 punch this season. Over 100 yards and 3 tds in the first half of the first game this season and then bush breaks his leg. After scoring 23 touchdowns the year before, how do you not take the chance on this guy?

I say it's easy how you turn down Bush. Big man runs like little one, without the speed or quickness.

    On Brian Leonard:

That time helps solidify my thoughts that he's both athletic AND fast enough to be a legit NFL RB talent. It's really a great thing to see for a Rutgers fan.

I really hope Leonard becomes a Jet. He's a great athlete, a great teammate, and he has the chance to become a great player.

Chris Henry has been my sleeper pick for a while. Amazing physical tools on a crazy phyiscal specimen. If this guy finds a staff (like ours) that knows how to coach up it's young talent, he could end up a Terrell Davis-esque steal (by that I mean a second day franchise RB).

I didn't see too many elusive moves in the highlight. I saw a lot of slashing into mostly open space. He definately has good vision and patience but I wouldn't call him elusive. The guy I want is Lynch but the chances of him being there when we pick in the 1st is highly unlikely. If not Lynch then I like the Brandon Jackson kid. His stock is on the rise; ESPN has him currently ranked as the 3rd back. He definately showed a lot of elusiveness and shiftyness in his highlight reel. The only knowk on him is really the lack of experience. That could also be perceived as a positive; he doesn't have a lot of mileage.

Saving grace about taking Leonard over some of the other backs is his team first attitude. If he costs our late 2nd rounder and doesn't pan out as a feature back, he has huge potential as a fullback and will stive to be the best FB in the league. He won the frakkin draddy award and was stepped out of the spotlight with great class upon the arrival of Ray Rice. Either way we get a big athletic back in the late second round ... blocking, goal line, great hands out of the backfield (think Larry Centers/Kevin Faulk). This guy would wash the uniforms after the game if asked and he'd be the best at it.

He single handedly changed Rutgers Football program by example.

He will slide more than the others since no one is sure what he is... FB / TB, but that fits the Patriot/Mangini player model.

Why do people keep saying this like it's true?

He's a 6'1 235+ guy with 4.49 speed while also being very strong and athletic.

Why WOULDN'T people be looking at him?

Sometimes I really think that if Leonard was born black all these questions wouldn't even exist.

That is probably true. Name 1 good white running back. Just because you have a crush on Brian Leonard doesnt mean he is going to be good. You're like a 9th grade girl who has a crush on a Varsity football player and thinks he's the best player even though he's the backup Tight End.

Maybe the NFL should be just like every other job in the country. Race supposedly shouldn't matter. Black or white, he has the ability whether you like it or not. If you don't want to draft him because he's white, then I have to say that it might be the dumbest thing I've ever heard.

Re-read what you wrote. It makes no sense. THE NFL IS LIKE ANY OTHER JOB IN THE COUNTRY. They obvisouly get paid more than most, but white players and black players have the same opportunities on the field. So are you saying it is unfair that there are no white cornerbacks in the league and that there are very few black quaterbacks, kickers and punters?

I can honestly tell you why there are few black QBs and Kickers/Punters

there are few QBs that make the NFL because all of us for the most part want to be flashy and run around and look pretty while getting nowhere, while most white QBs just go out and get the job done. most of us (african americans) are too worried about trying to run and get yards and get individual stats and be flashy than just flat out getting the job done.

We don't want to be kickers/punters because there is no way humanely possible to be flashy, or get popularity by kicking, and we decide not to do it, but instead we go for positions where we can pursue popularity.

No, he's saying that you can't judge how well someone's going to be at their position based on their skin color. Just because someone's white doesn't mean that they can't be a good RB or CB, just as a black man should be equally considered for QB, K, and P based on their ABILITY. Would Peyton be any less of a QB if he was black? Champ Bailey any less of a CB if white?

Are you saying that since the NFL is like no other job in the country that race should play a factor?

If someone has the physical tools, why should their damn skin color matter? Because of current biases in the NFL? That's a damn poor reason unless if you can scientifically find that Tom Brady wins at the QB position because his white skin color makes him a more accurate passer, or that LT has quicker cuts because he's black.

[disclaimer: that last comment was only used to provide a ridiculous example and is not meant to offend in any way]

I pray and hope this is sarcasm. If not, you should try to refrain from using the pronouns "we" and "us" so freely.
