With that said I would still take Rivers over Chad. He can throw a 15 yard out consistantly.

I love McNair but the guy looked like toast at the end of this season and SD is not going to a SB based on Rivers arm, they are going based on their D, their running game and Rivers playing smart and in control, much like Chad.

The Bengals and Steelers if they go will go based on their QB's carrying them.

Mcnair might be done but I will take his chances over Chad in a playoff game. Rivers got a year of much needed experience and next year I think we will see how good he really is. I will not even get into our chances if Brady Quinn slips to the Dolphins and is not overrated like I think he is or If Jay Cutler progresses sooner than later. Those are two more teams we have to worry about.

that doesnt mean anything..i dont care if you are "quite sure" the fact is that peyton manning is on the colts with the best wr corp in the league. and palmer has arguably the 2nd best wr corp in the league..u need good qbs and good wrs to have a good passing game. archie manning was great but he had no one to throw to, and larry fitzgerald and anquan boldin were great but last year the cards sucked cuz they had no qb. coles was one of the leading recievers in the league this year. pennington was better than anyone expected. give the man a chance. he worked so hard for this opportunity. he deserves every minute of playing time he's getting. the jets didnt lose games because of pennington sucking ass, they lost cuz of bad run defense and the inability to run the ball, which in turn doesnt help the passing game at all if the defense just sits back waiting for passes

Why on earth is there all this talk about trading up for a QB. We need our picks considering the holes that we have to fill. This is hardly the best QB class to come out in the draft. Hell it can not hold a candle to last years class. If a getting big time QB was an issue it was an issue last year, when we could have had Matt Lienart or Jay Cutler. If the Jets did not see the need pick a QB with all of the questions surrounding pennington's durability why is it a good idea to trade picks to get quinn or russell after the season he actually plays 16 games?

Maybe they like Quinn or Russell better than they liked Lienart or Cutler? I certainly like them both more than Lienart.

We had the weakest schedule in the history of football last year. We lost to every good team we played except the Patriots and it took a monsoon for us to beat them.

I say we should build the defense and offensive line via the draft this year. Draft a Rb and Wr when Kellen is ready to start in 08.

i dont care about our schedule. did ANYONE think that the jets would even win more than 8 games last year?? we beat the patriots in NE and lost to the colts by 3. the worst game all season was when we got shutout against jacksonville. so we lost to the SB champions by 3 and the NFC champs by 10 and the patriots by 7 i think it was. that makes us horrible?

Do you like them both more than cutler? But that is really not the point, I am trying to make, the issue is QB has been a concern and when we had the 4th pick we could have addressed it. I don't see the point in giving up picks to do it now.

I would have tried to move down a spot or two and picked up Cutler last year. Russell looks like a guy with phenomenal upside. They might love Quinn because of the Charlie Weiss factor. Last year on this board tons of people wanted to not take a QB last year just to make a move on Quinn this year. Hard to say how a particular coach or GM views these guys. I don't see our coach or GM as the type to fall in love with a most have player although they seem to have with Shlegal last year.

we should first use the extra cap money to secure players already on the roster that might leave soon (Vilma and others)...then we should focus on the draft by drafting talent, and not getting suckered into taking players in "needed" positions...mangini and the FA will do a good job of this...the last thing we should do is overpay for talent in a mediocre free-agent market...resign, draft, plug "holes" with free agents until the kids are ready to step up...
