1. Can't stop the run 2. Can't run block 3. No feature back or at least big bruising running back. 4. Mediocre pass rush 5. No real corner next to Dyson.
No he wasn't. QB Rating: Chad 82.6 Rex 73.9 Completion percentage: Chad 64.5 Rex 54.6 YPA: Chad 6.91 Rex 6.65 INT: Chad 16 Rex 20 About the only thing Rex did better is throw more touchdowns. Chad also arguably played better in his playoff game than any of Grossman's. And Rex put up those numbers while getting to play against the Vikings, Packers, and Lions twice a year, while Chad played against the Pats, Dolphins, and Bills.
Grossman in 13 wins had 22 TD and 11 INT, Chad in 10 wins had 13TD and 5 INTs. The fact is Grossman was awful in the 3 Chicago losses but played significantly better than Chad in Chicago wins. Rex played well in 13 games and blew in 3 games. Chad was decent in the Jet wins, he sucked in Jet losses but not to the degree that Rex sucked in Chicago's 3 losses which accounts for he's better over all stats in rating but why I say he didn't have any better year than Rex. As far as schedule, we won 10 games because of our schedule, we had one of the easiest schedules in the league. Head to Head Grossman was significantly better than Chad in our building. Chad was awful in the playoff game against the Pats and that was a prime reason we lost as was Grossman awful in the loss to the Colts. Any one who thinks the Bears win the SB with Chad is out of their minds.
I can't agree with your conclusions there. For starters 22:11 is not better than 13:5 in my book, and each speaks to the team as much as the QB - Rex could afford to put the ball up there in risky situations because the defense would likely get it right back if he got it wrong, Chad had to minimise errors, keep things moving, throwing a lot of short stuff. Head-to-head Grossman was put into a position where he didn't have to gamble. He was coming off a couple of apalling outings, iirc, and he was reigned in. The onside kick gambit failed, the pressure was on the Jets and Chad made a couple of mistakes. Rex was in a 2-score lead and could just play it safe, which he did. Neither QB could be counted on last year, IMO, to come through in a big game. Both did win big games, but what I felt was that you couldn't go into those games knowing that would happen. Look at Chad v Buffalo, Rex v New England for examples. On the flip side both did well (at least initially in Grossman's case) in the playoffs and, for Chad, the last few weeks of the regular season. I love Chad to bits, but I wouldn't have been able to sleep easy before any game last year if I'd been thinking about how he'd play the next day. Both of them were pretty bad, IMO, last year, the difference being that Chad made things happen sometimes that helped us win, Rex stopped himself doing things to prevent the Bears winning. If I had a free choice and no emotional ties to Pennington I'd take neither.
I don't think Rex was better than Chad, I just don't think he was worse than Chad. I'm not a fan of Rex Grossman by any means, I was simply responding to the idea that if Rex Grossman can get a team to a SB, Chad Pennington can. Rex Grossman like Pennington was able to beat a team QB by Drew Brees to get to the next game. Unfortunately Chad has to go through Brady and Manning to get to the next game and he isn't in their class and neither is Grossman.
Yeah, I agree on that. Then again, Brady was pretty dismal in the postseason this year, even Manning up to the AFC Championship game.
Congratulations, Chad. Most Jets fans support you and appreciate the great wins you've brought us. You've got the heart of a champ. Don't listen to the haters.
For those clinging to hope that Chad will NOT be our starter for years to come... What this announcement means is that Chad will see all (most) of the reps with the first team this training camp (Unlike last year when they split time with each QB). Thats what the starter going into camp does. Without time with the first teamers, Clemens has 0 (zero, nada, zip) chance of unseating Penny, barring injury. This will continue into the preseason games where Chad will start every game. When he comes out, so will all the starters and Clemens and the backups will take the field. Anyone who clings to some hope that this will not happen is fooling themselves. Clemens has NO chance of being the starter to start the season, barring a (gulp) Pennington injury. Furthermore... Clemens only chance to be the starter in the next few years, barring injury, is a total team collapse to start a season. Lets say we start out 1-7, then they will go to the youngster because the season will be done anyway. If Chad Pennington stays healthy, Clemens may never play a meaningful down as a Jet, before his rookie contract expires.
since I only brought the articles here, please do not attack the messenger. I credited the guys who wrote the articles. I did not name one guy because I did not want to start anything here. As stated ,CHAD-fans will use up a lot of energy defending their binkey! I am a JETS fan and I am hoping for a TEAM victory in the SUPER BOWL! Unlike the CHADETTES, I do not care who our QB is just as long as we win one soon. It seems that CHADETTES are more interested in winning a CHAD discussion then a SB![/QUOTE] Exactly the point. They will actually be mad if Clemens wins the starting spot and we do win the superbowl or even get out of the second round of the Playoffs!
That is about as absurd a statement as any. NO Jets fan will be mad if the Jets win the SB...No matter who the QB is.
We are in the process of building the equivelant of the 2000 Ravens D coupled with a rushing attack that will look like the 98 Denver Broncos. We can win a SB with Chad.
The 98 Broncos has John Elway and we could should have beat them with Vinny! At least Trent Dilfer could throw the long ball once in awile! You do realize that not one Jet Defensive Player would even start on the Ravens team that won the superbowl right? How long is your master plan going to take?
