Adrian Peterson ran an unofficial 4.38 forty, according to the NFL Network. The number may change a bit, but Peterson confirmed his great speed with this time. Other unofficial interesting running back times: Rutgers FB/RB Brian Leonard ran an impressive 4.49, Florida State RB Lorenzo Booker was at 4.45, Ohio State RB Antonio Pittman ran at 4.44, Notre Dame RB Darius Walker was at 4.57 and Cal product Marshawn Lynch was at 4.52. Arizona's Chris Henry was tops thus far at 4.33. Again, all the times are unofficial.
i knew leonard would do great. defintely give him a hard look at 57. henry is very impressive! his size and speed is outstanding, will he be there day2....
Since there are very few 40 yard runs in the NFL, the 40 time is ridiculous.....The NFL Network shoud relaize that the only people watching this are the NFL nerds and they should give the 10 yard and 20 yard split times. IF they weren't important split times then they would not have electonic timers at those distances. I watched and Marshawn Lynch's 40 time was so so, but even Vermil said the guy exploded off the line and slowed the last 10 yards, th4e same thing for Darius Walker.. With that said Deshawyn Wynn from Florida impressed.... powerful with speed
People don't realize that most coaches and scouts do time the first 10 and 20 yards, and then have their partners time the whole fourty. The fourty time is usually the only official time though.

Did you guys hear this?? With heavy heart, Peterson shines at combine Jay Glazer / FOXSports.com Posted: 11 hours ago Oklahoma running back Adrian Peterson lit up the Indianapolis turf on Sunday with a blazing 40-yard dash time in the 4.3s. It turns out Peterson ran with a heavy heart that did not seem to slow him down a bit. FOXSports.com has learned that Peterson was told in the wee hours Sunday morning that his half-brother was gunned down and killed in a Texas homicide. Sources say he was shot multiple times. The sources also said Peterson was very close to his half-brother and took the news extremely hard. Details are still sketchy and when contacted officials at the Houston Police Department did not have any information available. Despite such heart-breaking news, Peterson pulled his emotions together to have an impressive workout at the NFL's scouting combine. Not only did he run the 40s (4.38 in his first run) but Peterson participated in all the running back drills. Although his head was probably elsewhere, the former Heisman hopeful had what scouts deemed a terrific workout, including a 38.5-inch vertical and 10-foot, 7-inch broad jump. Peterson spent much of the time before and after his workout on the phone with grieving family members and didn't get much sleep Sunday morning. It's even more impressive when considering many if not the majority of top-5 projected picks opted out of running and/or working out of the annual Indy affair In years, preferring to save their showing for personal workout days. Not only did Peterson decide to pull the opposite of most of prospects, he did so with a major distraction yet still blew the door off his workout. Peterson certainly would have had a viable excuse if he chose to take a pass but he honored his commitment to participate. Teams this week spent hours upon hours interviewing potential draft picks in 15-minute intervals with the hopes of getting to know a kid's makeup, all with the confines of one-quarter of an hour. The young running back did not let on to any of the teams he interviewed with today that anything was amiss. Instead, Peterson has shown his makeup by his actions. Unfortunately, it has come at a very heavy price.
Bush is still rehabbing from his injury and couldn't/didn't workout. Hopefully, he will fall to the late 2nd round.
heres the top 10 1. Chris Henry Arizona 4.30 2. Adrian Peterson Oklahoma 4.4 3. Antonio Pittman Ohio St. 4.4 4. Kenny Irons Auburn 4.45 5. Lorenzo Booker Florida St 4.46 6. Marshawn Lynch Cal 4.46 7. DeShawn Wynn Florida 4.48 8. Alonzo Coleman Hampton 4.49 9. Ramonce Taylor Texas 4.5 10. Kolby Smith Louisville 4.51
for all the conflictions of his size Michael Bush measured in at 6 ft 1 and 3/4's and weighed in at 234
I'm really interested in Kolby Smith. He runs bigger than Bush, has perfect NFL RB size, and is probably faster.
A lot of people are projecting him to be a full back candidate. It could be along the lines of Leonard or Alstott or that dude from Atlanta that I can't remember the name of. Nevertheless, I too thought he was impressive this past year with the ball.
