http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slug=ap-patriots-dillon&prov=ap&type=lgns Well. Here is the situation. If we sign him up for what he has left that means our RB is stronger and we will probably look for a stud RB in a future draft, or get Dillon & get a Stud RB in the draft for the future. This sounds like an interesting situation.
Yeah no thanks. Despite keeping quiet in New England his attitude has always been a little suspect in my books. He wouldn't be a good fit here.
i actually wouldnt mind us signing dillon...he's still solid and i like the idea of dillon/washington and maybe draft one in the later rds
Dillon is slowing down big time, I'd pass on him. Although if we signed him to like a 1-2 yr deal that isn't expensive, I think I may like a Washington/Dillon combo.
hes probly gonna retire......he said he doesnt have the itch for football right now, and its the furthest thing on his mind.....he also said he's thinking more now about his health....
NO!! God, that guy sucks! The last 2 years he has been just like Barlow was for us-- big slow back who gets 1 yard TD's by basically falling into the endzone. And don't bring up the one long run he had against us where he broke through the blitz and had open field within 2 yards of the LOS-- I could have had 50 yards on that run.
Corey Dillon is asking for his release so he can retire, not sign with a different team because he's sick of the Pats. Hell, no one asks to be released from the Pats (except maybe Troy Brown.) They all beg to stay with them.
seriously, will there be a "Sign Player X" thread every single time a player gets released from any team in the NFL? as for the Pats; this is why they're one of the best. Dillon says he's ready to retire, but since they drafted Maroney - who now has a bunch of experience - he's ready to step in without a dropoff or steep learning curve. you gotta admire that. cheers
right now corey dillon wouldnt be able to take on the entire load a normal runningback could take. Therefor we could sign him and run the committee that seems to be so succesfull in the nfl nowadays. Colts- Rhodes and Addai Bears- Jones and Benson Saints- Bush and McCallister New england- Dillon and Marroney those were the top teams in the nfl this year. Next year Jets- Dillon and Washington.
I'd love to sign him for a year, just so he can shove it down the Pats throats twice a year, for replacing him so quick with Maroney.
I wouldn't want him on the team...he's looking to retire for health reasons. I'll take my chances with the draft, Houston and Washington. Martin never formally retired and he could be healthy enough to come back for one more year, play a few downs here and there all the while teaching the tricks of the trade to the young ones.
Dillon's not the player he used to be, but he's better than Barlow. I'm not saying we should sign him, but for a season, he would be an upgrade over the Barlow/Houston combination.
