I was looking over the free agents wondering who we could snag and I saw Keith Traylors name.

I think he would be a great sign. Miami's run D was always good when he was there and we could sign him to a 1yr deal. He would come with low risk and high reward.

I would take him on our squad and I think he would be a nice addition.

Won't he be like 38 years old when next season starts?

    ---edit---

Oh and not to mention he has knee problems and ended last year on IR because of it. I personally would pass...

If so, we gotta get him with a 1 year contract

I was thinking he would be a great stopgap (1 or 2 yr deal) until a good NT shows up in the draft or ends his rookie contract. That's why I was suprised to read in a recent article that our new D coach from miami was recommending Holliday and not Traylor. Also, I seem to remember reading about the Steelers NT becoming available this year, especially if Tomlin wants to switch to a 4-3...shoot D-rob for a real NT would be a great trade if we can find and transitional D's going in the opposite direction as us.

Watching games in the begining of the season i noticed Keith trailor was unblockable ,I even metioned that in a past post . The guy looked like a monster. I was unaware of his season ending in an injury but as mentioned before a one year contract wouldnt hurt.

What makes you think he'd be a good NT if NE and Miami have both let him walk in recent years? He obviously isn't worth our money.

NE had Wilfork ready to take over, and as far as I know, Miami is still interested in re-signing him.

He's still a pretty good 3-4 NT. Depending on the price, he would be a good sign.

I'd rather take my chances with Robertson, honestly.

Kimo II. Too old, and clearly in decline. Pittsburgh knew when to let Kimo walk, and Miami knows when to let Traylor walk.

this was one of the options i had in the NT thread yesterday...
i dont think his age matters...if the guy can stand in the middle for 15 plays or even less it could still help our defense for next season
i dont think he is the best option...but you dont always get the best option in free agency or the draft

Hey, I'd be happy with him too...any proven NT this offseason would be OK with me and breaking the bank for him is not a problem as far as i'm concerned...that is the only position not available in the beginning of this draft although i've heard okoye called a 2-gapper, so trading up is another option, maybe even bundle in d-rob. Either way REAL NT should be our top priority unless D-rob eats more chikin to the tune of 20+ lbs.

Traylor is old and washed up. Our team does not need any stop gap players at NT right now.

Personally, I think D'Rob will get another shot in this system at NT. He really seemed to improve as the season went on, and Mangini seems to really like him. Also, we will have Pouha coming back this year, and he looked very impressive in TC last season before his injury. I wouldn't mind seeing a rotation between these two players next season.

I think that DE is a much bigger need on this team as Kimo was clearly our weakest link.

I am in the same boat! I did not know he was operated on. Upon researh it seems he did not really suffer a severe injury. Loose cartoledge! It was scoped. IMO he would be great for us and POUHA! He would be able to train POUHA on how to be a NT!

you might but you can bet that VILMA wants a NT like TRAYLOR! DROB simply put is NOT physically able to take on two blockers and keep VILMA's uniform clean!

If we could land him for a 1 or 2 year contract then I say go for it.

don't forget about Tui Aleifeila (butchered that spelling). He got injured last year, and the Jets put him on the IR instead of cutting him, which means that they believe he has the size & potential to be a legit contender for the NT position. They obviously did not want another team to go and sign him. He is a guy that I will be keeping an eye on during Training Camp

anyone not named Kimo would be great at NT.

seriously though, I think Traylor would be an upgrade, but when you sign old guys to 1 or 2 year contracts it usually means that your team is at the doorstep of a Super Bowl. While I think the Jets are a legitimate AFCE contender, i just don't see Traylor as putting us in the Super Bowl runnings. Did we cut Sione Puha? Is it possible for DWayne to bulk up and evolve as a solid NT?

Traylor would probably cost too much, i say stay away unless the price is right
