i was curious about what everyone seems to think will happen with the position? i dont mind D-Rob, but i believe the FO will at least bring in some competition at both DE/DT to help strengthen the line alot of mock offseasons had T. Sands being the addition...and some mocks had tyler being a pick now that those two have faded i was wondering what the next options/predictions were via draft/FA/or trade? 3 that really has surfaced recently to me were FA K.traylor kris jenkins and keemeatu(the other giant) both could be on the block in carolina and have amazing size discuss...add other options...shoot these down...whatever
If Jenkins is on the block, I think you have to take a look. He is one of the best DTs in the league when healthy. Also, I am optomistic about Pouha. Where did you read this info BTW?
How about Hollis Thomas? He's a big guy (6-0 315) with good experience and really helped stabalize New Orleans' run defense. But I think that if Robertson can add at least 10 more pounds and works hard this offseason, he could become a beast at NT. I also like Sione Pouha.
I think D-rob still has potential. And i think pouha's value goes up the more he doesn't play and we speculate how good he is. I know very little about college ball, but don't you think a strong pick like jarvis moss would held the rest of the line? If we can finally get a good DE opposite Ellis, D-rob will be a good enough clog up the middle.
You know, having a lip ring may be cool in Pennsylvania, but not in NY/NJ NO THANKS- Thomas is a total fag with that piercing.
Oh what, and LT isn't a total "fag" with his lightening bold earings? Chad johnson may look like a "fag" with his haricut, but that still doesn't mean he can't produce.
Did not know that, but who the hell cares if he can stuff the middle of the line. Other than his lip ring, what else do you have against him. PS: I was born and lived in NYC for quite a while.
http://www.footballsfuture.com/2007/nfl/trades.html just a rumor...but i listen to 620 in nc almost everyday and the panthers are over the cap and need to shed alot of vet players...so it has some substance as for the other DT keemaetu...not as likely on him, but the panthers fans are just as fed up with him even after one year the more likely cuts as minter/rucker, but they need alot of space...depending on restructures Kris Jenkins, Defensive Tackle, Carolina Panthers Among other potential cap casualties in Carolina, Jenkins may be the most recognizable name. Jenkins played in every Panthers game this season, but wasn’t quite as effective as hoped, even though he played well. If the tackle wants to stay with his current team, he may have to be willing to re-structure his contract. The Panthers will try to re-structure before simply releasing him, but the team will certainly be making some changes.
Ahh, the PA dig was actually for his time with the Eagles- and in response to LT and CJ-- they may look stupid, but they don't have a tool inserted in their mouths to improve fellatio!
Oh- and I don't want another 33 year old lineman. I said the same about Von Olehoffen last year, and everyone ripped me on here-- now everyone is complaining about how bad he was, and are all so surprised at how much we paid him. We have cap room, and were a playoff team-- time to spend a few bucks-- it's not all about stopgaps anymore.
Ok??................. And if Dewayne can't add some weight/strength, we're looking at a stopgap at NT. There really aren't any prospects in the draft that we will look at and not many in free agency.
I like Rashad Moore as NT...he has good size & isn't pushed off the line often...I noticed. Then there is Alefaiuaolou (something like that), Pouha & of course D-Rob. Jets' will make do. Upgrading Lb's & DE's also very important. Speed/Pass rusher or 2 is needed. With pass rush....average CB's can make plays on QB's being harrassed by pass rushers. As we probally already know.....Good NT's are hard to find. I don't don't see any available via the draft or free agency. Unless the Jets' make a trade or there is some cap casualty cut......Jets' will have to make do.
I don't like any of our in house candidates at NT. Robertson is a stop gap and is not a two gap player. he is very disruptive but he's best at his current size and adding weight would not be a good thing. Rashad Moore got better as the season went on but earlier he played way to high and was knocked off the LOS to quickly. I doubt Pouha after missing two seasons will bring anything to the table. Our best bet for next year is a free agent who gets cut. Even if we draft someone it will take a while for that player to get big enough and learn the position. Ideally you want someone who is under 6'3" and weights over 330. The NT needs to be very strong but also quick to an extent. The goal of this player is to have two lineman have to block him giving a linebacker like Vilma the ability to flow to the ball instead of having to take on a guard. It's pretty useless to play the 3-4 if you don't have a dominating nose tackle. We did it last year and Robertson really stepped up. The Cowboys have done it also but it's so much harder to stop the run without that 2 gapper in the middle. Ideally we can find someone in free agency at some point and we can draft someone as well. As much as we have Ellis and Robertson and they are nice players we still need 2 or 3 more d lineman.
Keith Traylor is the best way tro go! the guy is still great and can teach POUHA all he needs to know! TRAYLOR had a knee scoped last year and he must first pass our physical. If so, he is a dominator!
Why does anyone think Pouha has any shot to be a solid NT? Has he proven anything? He's gotten hurt two years in a row and he's done sh$t on the field.
personally I think our first priority is finding a DE opposite ellis, then we get a DT because you have to admit that based on pure line play, D-rob is leaps and bounds ahead of Kimo and i would rather have two stellar ends and a solid NT than a stud at end who needs a guy opposite him to produce, a run stuffing NT and a loser DE on the other side!
