If there's one TE regarded as being the best blocker in the NFL it's Daniel Graham and not friggin Heath Miller let alone 10 other guys. If you think i'm wrong, fine.
See? That's all you needed to say. It's a message board, so just make it sound like your opinion instead of trying to make it sound like common knowledge when it's not. Maybe you're right. Maybe he is the best blocking TE in the league. But all I wanted to get across is that you can't just say that and pretend like everyone should know that and everyone thinks that and all that stuff. People will be a lot better with your opinion if you make it sound more like it's your opinion. I make the same mistake usually.
I wouldn't say you're wrong, and I wouldn't say you're right. When it comes to blocking, there are a number of different factors that come into play. Aside from watching each TE play-by-play, it's hard to say. As a casual viewer who hasn't studied tape of him, I would say Graham is a very good, borderline great blocker.
I think Graham is a player we are really targetting. He's obviously from the Bellichick/Mangini/Parcells mold, and would provide another facet to the offense and additionally better depth at TE. I think Schottenheimer and Co. would love to implement more 2 TE sets, but we currently dont have the horses for that type of formation...Graham would change that.
IMO he will be a JET! ERIC knows him and loves what he brings to the table. He has the speed to get deep and is a great blocker. he is also unselfish and a complete TEAM player!
I remember john madden saying the backup te on kc dunn, was the best blocking tight end in the league.
Anyone remember in the week preceding the Jets/Pats playoff game, Mike "the fatass" Francessa said that Graham was better than anyone on the Jets offense? Luckily some Jets fan caller quickly corrected Mike and he retracted that claim, but still it just goes to show that some people are nuts about Graham Graham is huge and has great hands. but i think we're just fine at TE with Chris Baker. I keep replaying that last play in the Cleveland game back in my head. And you gotta admit, Bakers ability to control that ball while taking such a huge hit shows he's got the goods as a pass catching TE when need be. Another year under Shotty and Baker will be deadly in the red zone. Graham might be good, but we don't need to invest alot of money for only a minimul upgrade
I am still pissed we didn't draft him when he came out of Colorado. I don't think he is worth big FA money though. I know the Broncos are going to go after him and may have an advantage since he is from Denver.
Why would we ever want a TE that is big, has good speed, is a good route runner, is an above average run blocker, and an upgrade over all the TE's on our roster except for Baker... We would be able to run just about anything out of a 2 TE set, what offensive coordinator doesn't want that... The ability to split either one of them from a 2 TE set out into the slot, who doesn't want that. Let's not downplay the fact that he would be a great addition to this team, and he would add versatility to our offense in a way that few teams have. But will he come here? Somehow I doubt it, but it would be more than foolish to not at least explore the possibility of trying to get him into Green and White. It would be flat out stupid IMO. Ellis
