Yeah the height factor is a big one... That's one of the reasons why Chris Brown didn't do too well (he was 6-3 220) and Brandon Jacobs could struggle (6-4).
cough...HIJACKED THREAD...cough mock...cough...draft...cough...just...six,,,,more,,,,rounds............................
yeha that Lions pick is very questionable. They definitely need help on the o-line, but there are a lot more positions they also need to fill. Personally, I dont really think that Beekman the smartest person to draft there, but you will have one hell of an o-line
That is a little unrealistic (the lions pick) because within the first 2 picks they will adjust their QB spot, either with Brady Quinn, or with Drew Stanton or guys like that.....
Remember who runs the games at Detroit regarding the offense out there....Martz needs quality linemen to run the plays and besides as INT prone as Kitna's been, the dude threw for over 3,000 yds and understands the playbook. Marinelli cant take the chance of being put on the hot seat with guys like Cowher, Parcells and Schottenheimer all in the waiting for a NFL Job so he will stick with the veteran. Besides Kevin Jones had a bad, bad year so its clear that this line needs some retooling. But I question the Beekman pick as there were 2-3 other linemen that were better that still have yet to be picked but hes a BC O-Linemen so the reputation helps Beekman I guess.
I'm happy w/ the Beekman pick. Joe Thomas is a no brainer. Backus is a little older now (30) and they NEED the LT of the future. They will NOT pick any one other than Thomas at that spot. I could have gone somewhere else w/ the 2nd round pick, but trust me when I say that if the draft were to go the way it went here, they will take Beekman. (Unless of course they are busy in Free Agency with the OL).
i know who im gonna take with my next jets pick. its not a flashy one, im sure it wont surprise people.
If I were the Jets, I would probably take either CB Chris Houston/Marcus McCaulley/Daymeion Hughes, OLB Anthony Spencer or maybe WR Dwayne Bowe... We'll see.
Ryan Kalil is a pretty solid Center, but as said by many, Doug Datish from THE ohio state university may be, the best Center in the Draft....but all in all, a solid pick
