Actually he is more of a 3-4 LB than a 4-3 LB. He always prefered to rush the passer than to play in coverage. That's why people compared him to LT when coming out college.

For the right price I would take a look at him. When he is on the Field he is a good LB.

Actually hed be perfert as a 3-4 OLB, he's 6'3 260 is fast as hell is a great pass rusher.A position he hasnt tried yet is the 34 OLB and i think he would be great at that.

I say yes, for several reason

    1) When the guy is healthy and at Full Strength, he is a top 5 OLB in the NFL
    2) As bad as our Run Defense was for the most part this year, passing on a possibly dominant Linebacker won't be the smartest move
    3) If he is contemplating retirement, as it was posted, signing the guy probably will be pretty easy.
    4) Having Vilma, Barton, Hobson and Thomas along with Lavar can give us one of the best LB cores in the NFL

    1) A top 5 LB? When the heck was this guy ever a top 5 LB in the NFL? NEVER. Maybe College, but not in the pros.
    2) Passing on a trouble making head case wont be the smartest move? Uh, ok?
    3) Lets sign a guy thinking about quitting, great idea. When hes done with Mangini's camp he'll be quitting ASAP.
    4) Adding someone like LaVar to our LB core will only cause problems, this guy will open his mouth as soon as he dosnt get the playing time he wants.

    NO THANKS.

He is the anti-Mangini guy. Not a chance we sign him. What has this overpaid POC ever done?

a 3-4 olb has a lot more to do than just to rush the passer. arrington cant shed blockers, he cant cover and he cant play the run. you could put him in there on 3rd down situations to rush the passer but like i said, he said he might retire now. plus he's not the player he once was. he lost his great skills (speed, explosiveness, strength etc) because of all those injuries
