Dyson is solid and Miller will get better and Drew Coleman isnt that bad. Hopefully Miller with learn a few things at the pro bowl. he has amazing speed actually he is the fastest one at the pro bowl. i think he will be much inmproved come the open game next season. i think he could pan out to be a solid #2 CB. i know he struggled this year but i think he will get better.

I love Miller as much as anyone else, and I am a huge suppoorter of him and think one day he could be a good #2 cornerback but, last year he was horrible. Our secondary last year was just bad all around, and maybe Miller could develop into a #2 in the future, but we need to sure up our secondary for next year, or else we are in big trouble. Miller is perfect for a nickel or dime back now.

It could certainly be upgraded, but it isn't as big of a need a running back, offensive line, defensive line.

The secondary is as good as its weakest link, which happens to be #2 corner, thats why it was so bad this year.........

As a whole, Rhodes, Coleman and Dyson are excellent........

Teams justed picked on whoever was opposite of Dyson all year......

Yeah we need another guy there. I like Dyson on one side. On the other we have Drew Coleman, Justin Miller, David Barrett or Hank Poteat. Miller and Coleman were benched this year. Poteat did pretty good, but he's a journeyman. Barrett is very possibly going to be cut.

I'd feel better having some more competition either through free agency or the draft.

Miller has all the talent to be a #1 CB. The problem is in his head. He blows assignments, is a sucker for the double move, and plays with an undisciplined style. His tackling is not fundamentally sound. He can lay the big hit, and that's part of the problem I think, the big hit is more important to him than a fundamentally sound tackle. He still thinks he can use his make up speed to cover for being overly aggressive, but that worked OK in college, not the NFL. He struggled with the cover 2, and Mangini's scheme is harder to learn. It could also be that he just isn't a very smart guy.

So far, he doesn't seem to be a very coachable player.

Drew Coleman is terrible and should be cut ASAP.

He was doing damn well for a 6th round pick. He had one bad play where he got burnt by Mark Bradley in the Bears game. Other than that, he was pretty good I thought.

No reason to cut him ASAP. You can't cut a player for making a mistake.

You can cut a play for being terrible. Coleman was burnt on serval occasions.
Ex) the pats...he got killed on that screen, luckly he was able to force the fumble. I wasnt the only one who saw how bad he was...he was starting and soon enough after that, he was playing Dime behind Miller, Dyson and Barett.

True enough but the weakest link, in my mind, was Kimo. That's why I think DE/DT is the biggest need.

yes it is. we are 1 good conrner away from having a very good back secondary either the 2 elite corners on the free agent market sets us up to go after other needs in the draft

Since Justin Miller is over there at the Pro-Bowl, he might as well ask Champ Bailey for some pointers on how to play cornerback, that would help the JETS a whole lot and Miller solidify himself as more than a special teamer and more of a #2 CB who can blossom into a #1 with more seasoning.

I think the corners would look much better and have a much easier time if we had a better pass rush.

  15. There was an article alittle while back about Rhodes and Miller spending extra time at Ewbank Hall, watching film, out on the field, Etc.Mangini was raving about both of their work ethics.

To me, Miller made alot of strides this past year. He did indeed struggle early but started playing the ball alot better by year's end. I believe he is the answer at the # 2 corner, if he gets a better grip on the scheme.

In terms of the secondary as a whole: At the beginning of the year it was awful, but I thought by year's end, as the pass rush improved, so did the secondary. I'd like to see us add another guy for depth and competition, but I don't see it as the glaring need that others do.

Getting a solid 3-4 LE to replace Kimo should be our first priority on D.

well, it isn't TOO big of a need where we need to pick a player in Round 1, but it is a big enough need for DAY 1, or definetly FA, it is a need where we need to bring in 1 good cornerback, and 1 so-so cornerback, god willing we can pull in asante samuel

You are certainly on to something.............

Here it is, the weakest link in the secondary is the shitty defensive line in front of it. In fact that by far is the weakest link of the entire defense!

Yo have to admit, its easier to sign Clements or Samuels than draft a guy......

CBs that blossum from the draft take a couple years and might be more risky....

I would rather atack the DE spot through the draft, or maybe move D-Rob to DE and see what kind of shape Pouha is in to play NT........

This is Miller's put up or shut up year to me. He turns 23 in 4 days and hopefully can thrive with a full offseason under Mangini's tutelage. Entering his 3rd year their are no more excuses for him, he has got to put it all together from his previous 2 years and just be able to man one side opposite Dyson if Mangini feels the Jets don't need to address Cornerback via FA or early in the draft...

This looks like Miller's last shot, hopefully for our sake he strides in his 3rd year...

I agree with the priority of LE, but Miller... I dunno. I was very high on him in the beginning of his rookie training camp, but then he started to look lost. I'm just not sure if he's very bright. I recall him saying back then that Loius Farakan was his idol, or something to that affect. The guy who is suspected of killing Malcolm X is his idol? Once X realised that all men are brothers, he became a man of peace, not anger, that blew Farakan's mind, a guy who still preaches racism. That fact alone really made me wonder about Miller. A bit off topic, but either he's naive, stupid, or a bit racist. Hopefully, it's the former.

Good to hear Rhodes is already mentoring.... that kid is a jewel. I did see some improvemnt in Miller, but he's not getting much time at CB. That tells me he just isn't there yet, scheme-wise. I do believe he has the skill set to be a #1 corner.... durable, not afraid to hit, fluid in the hips and fast as blazes.
