I don't get how Boomer can be so favorable while Coslet is so unfavorable. Coslet at least took us to the playoffs and brought us up from the bottom to having a shot. Boomer didn't do much to save Coslet or Carroll, he did do a good job advertising for The Wiz or whatever, that's about it.

Some other debatable charactars from Jets past: John Hall, Al Groh, James Hasty, Jeff Lageman, Rob Moore, Johnny Johnson, Jonny Mitchell, Kyle Brady, Anthony Becht.

I was SHOCKED about Bryan Cox! I figured everyone would say he was a Dolphin and not a Jet

I know it is early, but I think Herm would bring up a heated discussion. Kevin Mawae, Marvin Jones, Victor Green, Aaron Glenn, Ray Mickens, and Marcus Coleman may also be a few good ones. It is a long offseason, plenty to talk about.

I personally don't get it? They had their best regualar season since 1968 under Vinnie. They won their first Division title since 1968 with Vinnie. He started in the Pro Bowl that season. He brought the Jets to the AFC Championship game and was one of the few Jets who played great that day. What the heck else do you want? If he isn't voted favorably after all that, then their is no such thing as being voted favorably.

On top of that, when they picked him up, their wasn't him remotely the expectation in his play that he then exhibited.

BTW, What the fuck the LaMont Jordan do to become so unfavorable? The guy wanted to play everyday, so he signed with a different team. That makes him a scumbag???

Which means we gave up nothing to get him--a QB that damn near won us the Super Bowl. Not a draft pick, not a key player, nothing. Vinny was a gift to the Jets out of nowhere and he gave us the best season most of us have ever seen the Jets have.

In response - very simply 1 season does not a career make, and Vinny Broke more hearts for us than he made. He injury which wasn't his fault sucked, and he single handedly killed the playoffs in 00. His career shows '98 was more a fluke than his 'skill' the dude in my opinon was in the right place @ the right time and did play his ass off for one year but one year doesn't make him an all time anything...Sorry if i don't love him as much as others, but I prefer consistency or a championship, and he had neither...

Wow, none are within 20% of each other...

This was a nice idea though. If you can think of any more, please post a poll.

You're entitled to your opinion, of course, but from a Jet fan's perspective Vinny came out of nowhere to give us a good run. Nobody's putting him in the Hall of Fame, but I don't see how it's surprising that a poll of Jet fans would have a favorable opinion of him. We've spent a lot more and gotten a lot less from most other QBs in Jets history.

I am a jet fan, and my persective is from a Jet Fants POV. I find it very surprising that he would be viewed favorable for one year of greatness, but aside from that very bitter memories. More than that one year '98, I won't forget my first ever road football game in B-more where he butchered our team and ensured we didn't make the playoffs...

If that was your first ever road game I can understand the bitterness, that was his one game as a Jet where I was really pissed off at him. Ironically my first road game was at New England on MNF in 1998 where he pretty much solidified the starting job over Foley.

But overall, Vinny started three full seasons for us, we got to the playoffs twice and we were 12-1, 9-7 and 10-6 with him, that's not bad. Considering we had been to the playoffs once in 11 years (at 8-8 no less) before Vinny got here, and we were dicking around with guys like Boomer, Foley and O'Donnell, I think a lot of Jet fans were thrilled to have Vinny when we did.

Mawae, Jones, Green, Glenn and Mickens would all get favorable marks for their great play with the Jets. Coleman wasn't really around long enough for me to get a solid feel for him. I felt about him when he left about the way I feel about Erik Coleman today, if he has a good season next year then he's a favorable and if he has a bad one I'd probably be happier with somebody else in his position.
