Bears fan follows through on vow, changing name -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Associated Press DECATUR, Ill. -- He doesn't want to do it, but diehard Chicago Bears fan Scott Wiese is changing his name. The 26-year-old Forsyth man told friends that if his beloved team didn't win the Super Bowl, he'd become Peyton Manning after the Indianapolis Colts star quarterback. He even signed a petition in front of 200 people last week at Decatur's Katz Piano Bar that he'd do it. After the Colts defeated the Bears 29-17 on Sunday, Wiese started the process. He trudged to the Macon County Courts Facility on Tuesday and filed the paperwork. The change still has to be approved by a judge. Wiese says he really cares about the team and that his sacrifice represents the true passion of Bears fans.
My best friend's name is Namath, he says it was because his dad lost a bet. That sounds like BS, but its true. At least Joe Namath is a whole lot more cool to be named after than Peyton Manning.
I think it would be kinda hard to take Peyton Mannings identity. Unless your 6'5 220 pounds with a lazer rocket arm
very insightful i could never do something like that....everytime he hears his name, this guy is going to think back to this superbowl and how his team lost, and this stupid diehard bet he made...
change his name to Rex Grossman. I can understand, though, I've been legally Hakeem Olajuwon since 1994.
