You are way wrong about Navarro. We need him bad. He is very good at calling a game and as a defensive catcher. His offense will come along with as he gets older. I see him as one of the top catcher in baseball for a long, long time.

Yankee Stadium to host 2008 All-Star game January 31, 2007 NEW YORK (AP) -- Yankee Stadium is going out with an All-Star salute. The beloved old ballpark will host the All-Star game in 2008, the final season before the New York Yankees move into a new stadium being built across the street in the Bronx. ADVERTISEMENT Baseball commissioner Bud Selig and New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg were on hand Wednesday at City Hall for the announcement, which had been expected. It will be the fourth All-Star game at Yankee Stadium, which underwent an extensive renovation in the mid-1970s. The most recent summer showcase in The House That Ruth Built was in 1977, when the National League won 7-5 for the sixth of 11 consecutive victories over the AL. Now, the American League has nine wins and a tie in the past 10 All-Star games going into this year's contest July 10 in San Francisco. The 2009 game will be played in St. Louis. Yankee Stadium also was the site of All-Star games in 1939 and 1960.
For God's sake Bernie, go out with some dignity. You should've retired a few years ago, this is embarassing.
Bernie leaning to Yankee offer Friday, Feb 2, 2007 11:42 am EST Bernie Williams Getty Images Bernie Williams is leaning toward accepting the New York Yankees' offer of a minor-league contract, two people familiar with the situation told Newsday yesterday. The 38-year-old, ultra-popular outfielder is aware that he'll be a long shot to make the 2007 Yankees, the sources said. But after spending all 16 of his big-league seasons as a Yankee, he has no desire to play for another team, and Williams figures that if he doesn't make the cut, he'll retire in Yankees pinstripes. Source: Newsday
That's the only part of this that makes any sense whatsoever. Why couldn't he just sign one of those one day contracts and end it all already.
D'Backs hire Mel Stottlemeyer. http://www.azcentral.com/blogs/index.php?blog=186&blogtype=Sportsf Have fun ruining young pitchers in Arizona, Mel!
I never understood the bashing of Mel, we had mostly veteran staffs but it was his fault when anyone faltered but when they had success he didn't get credit. The man was a pitching coach for 5 staffs that won WS so he must have done something right.
Crap, I guess this is one of those times we actually agree junc. I don't dislike Mel at all. I thought he actually did a very good with the staff, but Joe was the one ruining arms with overwork.
Posada not worried about an extension. TAMPA, Fla. -- Jorge Posada is focused on the season as he heads into the final year of his contract with the New York Yankees. Posada will make $12 million in 2007, the final season of a deal paying him $59 million over six years. The 35-year-old catcher says he's leaving his contract situation up to his agents, Sam and Seth Levinson, and Yankees general manager Brian Cashman. "Obviously I have one more year left, and a lot can happen," Posada said Monday after a pre-spring training workout. "We'll see. It's up to them. That will take care of itself. I'm concentrating on what I have to do." Posada hit .277 last year with 23 homers and 93 RBI, the best season at the plate for the four-time All-Star since 2003. Unless the sides agree to an extension, he will be eligible for free-agency after the World Series. "To tell you the truth, if I keep feeling like I'm feeling right now, I'm going to keep playing," Posada said. "If I don't feel like that, it's time to go." Posada will be working with several new pitchers this season, including Kei Igawa. "He was very good in Japan, and I'm looking forward to catching him," Posada said. "It's going to be a good experience for me." Posada expects Igawa's transition to be eased by the presence of Hideki Matsui, who will be starting his fifth season with the Yankees. "I think Matsui is going to help him a big deal, " Posada said. "Matsui had it tougher being here by himself. It's going to be all right." I didnt realize that he is 35. Yanks need to get his replacement soon. There isnt much of a market for 36 year old catchers.
Just say no to an extensuion for Jorge. He was great last yera for the first time in many years but he is getting old. if he comes cheap then ok but if he wants a long term deal for alot of money then pass.
