I know alot of people would be disappointed if the Jets went OL in the first round again this year. At the same time I hear everyone complaining about how our offensive line cannot block for our RBs. OG seems to be the biggest complaint. So, what if Justin Blalock is still on the board when we're on the clock?
take him, obviously, we can't pass on him, we can go RB in round 2, and DE/OLB anytime in the draft, BUT, If Carriker, Marshawn, AP, are on the board, NO
I'm a big fan of Blalock and have no problem taking him at #25....only if Carriker, Bowe and Jarvis Moss are off the board. I firmly believe..........either Blalock, Grubbs or Beekman will be a Ny Jet, that's how important, IMO, the further deveopment the O-line needs to continue.
I wouldn't take a guard with our first pick. Especially with our next pick being so close. The Pick should be DT/DE. There will be a ton of good second round guards, no DT's.
Have to go stopping the run with our first rd. Beekman, Blalock. Duckworth, Grubbs, Ramirez, Studdard are all good run blockers. One or more will be available in the late second or third rds. I would be happy to select one of these guys on day 1.
Considering guys like Beekman, Sears, Ramirez, Grubbs, Yanda and a ton of others are there...no guard with the first pick.
If one of the top DE/DTs are around at 25, I think the Jets will go that way. But, if they are off the board, Blalock is a solid choice.
I think with where we are in the draft that we should try to fill NT in free agency. There is not real prototypical NT that will be available for us to reasonably take at 25.
If he's there, I'd love to see him be the pick. But there seems to be a number of talented guards in this draft that we can grab with one of our second round picks. Guard is a huge need, without question, but we might be able to use our first pick on another area of need, like DE or OLB, and then get a guy like Grubbs, Beekman, Ramirez, etc. in the second round.
Based on what I've heard from a lot of people, they were unimpressed with his play at OG last year considering that's supposed to be his natural position. He's still being given the benefit of the doubt because of his play throughout his career, but i'd prefer to grab a guy like Beekman or Grubbs if we're deadset on an early OG, someone who's got the experience dominating there.
The original post was meant as a joke I assume, but if you're refering to Darnell Stapleton and Cameron Stephenson, they are both well over 270 lbs.
