That's not a made up excuse... Have you ever played LB, at any level? I played MLB all of junior year and the beginning of senior year, and let me tell you, if the DL gets pushed back, you have a guy 100lbs heavier than you before you can react to the play.... It's a big deal.... The #1 thing any team needs to get production from the LBs is a DL that, at the very least holds its ground.

Dude who cares about another team since JV plays for us & it was ANSWERED when you say even GODZILLA who is the biggest of the big would not make JV a superstar. What can be clearer then that?

 

The question has meaning too it, and it disproves your whole theory about him. Vilma is still a playmaker on this team, and is great considering how poor our D-line is. All the succesful 3-4 teams in the NFL have beefy 2 gap NT's. Those teams also have LB's that excel in this system because they are freed up to perform their assigned assignments. Instead of making things happen on the fly when your d-line keeps getting blown back 75% of the time. So this allows them to play to their full capabilities.

Vilma already plays above and beyond what a normal/average player would be doing for us right now at that position. Given that our D-Line is not yet set for a 3-4 defensive front. When we did have a bulked/balanced D-line Vilma was able to shine, and won DROY for a reason.

Well to be fair, we were running a 4-3 when he was DROY and I proved in the past that still the majority of his tackles were taking place down field due to his speed. But I am not one of those who thinks he sucks and should be traded, just think at this point he is a bit over rated by many fans....

Hopefully he will blossom as you say once the line is fortified in front of him...

 

Let's find a decent-sized, legitimate NT this spring, either in the draft or through F/A. Then move Robertson back to where he was always more comfortable.

After we do that, THEN I want to observe Vilma for one more year. If things don't improve by then, perhaps Champ is right. But I for one am not ready to throw in the towel on JV until I see what he can do behind a big, legit NT.

 

Actually, Godzilla would not be an effective NT. It can't be easy to run around in that rubber suit, not to mention he would trip everyone with his tail.

The problwm is what U posted do not just do not fall out of the sky into our laps. If there is one of what you posted as a UFA & he is good you can be sure his present team will most probably resign him as they are so hard to find. Using the theroy that we do not find what U posted what then would be your solution to the problem? Remember JV is a player that went thru at least 2 mini camps last year + 5 weeks of TC & xhibition games + 16 regular season games + 1 bye week + 1 PO game & still has not the foggiest idea of our D. To me that is a player who is lacking at least in mental capabilities at the very, very least
