Hahah, this post coming from the guy that complained about how much Martin was a waste being on our roster last year. :breakdance: I don't make a habit of defending Champ, but the guy has actually been optimistic and has said somethings positive in the last few weeks. Maybe you should come out of your cave more often. :wink:
Actually, I remember someone posting stats about several top LB's tackles and the average downfield they were and JV's were comparable. Were they the closest or farthest downfield? No. The problem with champ is that he expects each player to be the best at their position. Since JV is not the top LB in the NFL, champ thinks he sucks. Same with every other player on the team. I think the only two players I've seen something remotely close to a positive opinion from him on them were Mangold and Graham. Everyone else sucks according to champ.
theres a big diff between my opinion on one thing, and champs consistant negativity. i still think that martin ate up a ton of capspace that could have been applied to another need. i may have opinions you disagree with, and thats fine, but i dont need to shit in a topic just for the sake of it. ive def missed those posts....however, my cave is the bomb....full bar, home theater, and my 360....boom pow biiiing....
No I just think JV is very, very average to below average if in your world if that means sucking then so be it. To win a SB we will need a dominant MLB no matter if you cannot see that yet so sooner or later the CS will make the decision about JV. If Eric is so smart he already sees what I am posting & I certainly hope he is making plans for the upgrade

Actually sorry to say if you think he is productive then your standards are way, way, way lower then mine so you can continue to think he is the next LT & watch as year after year the SB passes us by
Yes, that's what I was talking about in the other thread, where champ also discussed Vilma's tackles down field. The list showed that Vilma was definilty atleadt in the top 1/2 of the league, and I'm pretty sure the 1/3 of 4-3 MLB's.......His Tackles per Yards average was better than some 4-3 lb's that are considered very good players around the league too.....I don't know where Champ gets his information from that says that Vilma has a bad Yards per Tackle average when comparing to other 4-3 MLB's.
i didnt allege anything...but since he sucks, i guess you didnt see how well he played in the 4-3. because the player i saw in the 4-3 was much better and more apt to make plays than this season in the 3-4. i think a NT that can eat the gaps in front of him will def help him. he cant stop the run all by himself. as much as the MLB is responsible, so is the interior DL.
did you read what i said? never said he was GREAT....no where near LT (who really has been since LT though?). i just think youre beating him up way too much, and really doing it for the sake of doing so, and using him as another one of the myriad of reasons you spout out as why we dont get to the SB so consistantly. what did you think of marvin jones/mo lewis? did they suck too? were they below avg LBs?
Well if you consider him making those tackles 5 or more yds DF in the 4-3 then again your standards are very low compared to mine. He was no superstar in the 4-3 & for sure is no superstar in the 3-4
Please post your finding of Vilma in the 4-3 in 2004 and 2005.....yards per Tackle average vs. all other MLB's in the 4-3 around the league at that time, and stop avoiding me.
Just pointing out that JV is very, very average at best. Mo & Marv were also just very average. Mo excellled a little more under BP. Marvin was Marvin thruout his career. Just 2 more players that will be footnotes in the history books of the NYJs like JV when his career is said & done

well, that said, then a couple of avg LBs got us within spitting distance of the SB....a KO return, and sloppy play by the offense, and the bending second half defense in the 98 AFC championship game cost us a ride to the bowl. and while youre at it, pull a few more stats out of your ass like tackles 5 yds DF...in 06...then in 05 and 04 too....its amazing hes on a roster!!!!!
Yes actually I think the FO/CS blew the opportunity to get some value for him which was last off season until game 1 if the 06 season was played. As for slow Mo & over the hill Marv neither was more then average so if you cannot accept that then you have ur opinion of them & I have mine. As I said I guess I hold players to a far higher standard then U do
