Anybody interseted in trading up, i mean not all the way to the top 10 but somewhere where we can grab Amobi Okeye the guy to me is just gonna be a star, before he was about 317 he has slimmed down about 20 pounds so maybe he isnt the best fit at nose but dewayne has played excellent there at the later part of the season critics where writing about how dominate he was.So thats even better let dewayne stay at nose and Okeye be that end. Im not in favor of letting go of our 2nd second rounder so if thats what it takes to move up about 10 spots then forget it but i just dont wanna be in a position where we have to pick someone who isnt worthy of the pick id rather just get more picks in the 2nd and 3rd round if we have to do that.
here are the values of our picks, roughly. Think about whether or not its still worth it to you: http://content.scout.com/a.z?s=68&p=3&blipid=14689
going strictly off of the chart... Jets Give Up: 1st Round (25 overall) & 2nd round (38 overall) Jets Receive: 1 Round (10 or 11 overall) -OR- Jets Give Up: 1st Round (25 overall) & 2nd round (57 overall) Jets Receive: 1st round (15 overall) -OR- Jets Give Up: 1st Round (25 overall) & 3rd round (89 overall) Jets Receive: 1st Round (20 overall)
In our current defense, Okeye has no more value to us than Dewayne Robertson does. If we move up it should be to secure Marshawn Lynch.
That's interesting. If we don't get Turner/Portis/another RB, I wouldn't mind trading our late 2nd rounder to get ahead of the Packers if Lynch is still there. We'd probably have to add a later pick though. Then we could spend the FA money that we would've spent on a RB to sign a DE, OLB, or OL that we would've taken at 57.
Exactly. This draft is loaded with talent, especially towards the end. I think the Jets will get a quality player right where they are.
I could see us trading down to get more picks this year and next year rather then trading up for one player. We still have many needs on both sides of the ball and remember that the later you pick the less risky the pick is from a financial standpoint. Top 10 picks and even worse top 5 picks if they are busts are absolutely killers for your salary cap. If a guy at 26 isn't good his money really isn't a big deal and as a team like the Pats have shown you don't need to have a top 10 pick to find a great player.
It's too early to talk about moving up to target an individual player. For all we know Okoye could have a horrible combine and end up in our laps at 25.
Im never a fan of trading up, i always feel like teams give too much away. Its like saying, Giving up D'Brick and Mangold to get Mario Williams. Id rather spent the pick on a more proven player
