Good interview. Vilma is the man. Leader of the Jets Defense. All this Vilma trade talk needs to go out the window forever. He is called Little Penguin by Coles due to how similar he is to Mangini. Vilma talked playoffs in minicamp. People blew him off, said he was crazy. Then talked about THE U. I miss the J-E-T-S. Vilma also said even though the Super Bowl is in Miami, he is still not going probably. Wants his first time to be when he is playing.
I like how he said that even though he has Super Bowl tix hes not going to the game coz he wants to wait till hes playing in it. Very soon Jon, very soon.
Vilma is one of the most intelligent players in the NFL already. What a great interview. He's something special for this franchise.
Yeah I wasn't a big fan of Jim Rome when he first came out but now I really like the way he interviews. The players seem to really like him and that makes for much better interviews.
Do you ever get tired of hearing yourself over and over and over and over again just repeating the same exact things?
Well it is no difference then those making excuses for him that all he needs his a huge NT in front of him & he will be a superstar. MY HO of JV is far difference then some on this board & the facts are the facts concerning that stat. As they say U R what Ur record says U R & that is the record JV so far accumlated in his career with us no matter if it was 4-3 or 3-4. Sorry if real facts bother U
Yes he's made some mistakes, he's human. Is Ray Lewis no longer an elite LB because he swatted away 2 sure INTs in the game against the Colts? He might have been a little quiet in the 3-4, but he still made 100 tackles and no way would we have gone 10-6 without his physical abilities or leadership on the d.
But do you not agree that an effective NT would only help Vilma? I'm surprised you haven't brought up your telephone conversation with Larry Coker for the 12th time about Vilma. Look, if you want to knock last season, he definitely deserves that, without a question. Vilma himself said he wasn't very good, and when the run game gives up close to 130 yards a game, that has to fall on the MLB, and he realized that, which is a huge positive and he aims to improve his technique and skills in the 3-4, after all, it was the 1st time ever he was in a 3-4. You can't really bash his rookie season...He was a force that season and you cannot deny that, the defense was Top 5 in points allowed and 7th overall, when he was able to just roam around and attack the ball. His Pro-Bowl season was good, not great, not bad, just good. He did have tackles coming behind the LOS, but you make it sound like ALL of his tackles came that way. You gotta agree that he has been worth the #12 overall pick up to this point champ, all negativities aside:wink:
Vilma is 25-26 in 3 seasons in the NFL. That includes a 4-12 season though (He made the Pro Bowl). He is a great player, with great potential still.
No cause even in his rookie season his stats for making tackles at the POA was terrible. MOHO is that the people who gave JV his ROTY award did not dig deep enough into his true facts. Anytime you have a 12th overall pick & he is just average to below average I would always say the FO/CS/Scouting dept did a very poor job concerning that pick
Viturally zero however I think it was Cane Jet or someone else that posted them. In any case how many do you remember? 100, 200, 300,. His record speaks for itself sorry to say as a NYJ fan as we will sooner/later have to upgrade that position so then it will become another obveall #1 pick down the tubes
