I was just astonished a tthe stupitidy in this post I just read by Glen Foley... Originally Posted by Glen Foley You can't be serious with the McGahee comparison. He's too slow and reminds me too much of Kevan Barlow (like I said in another thread on the same topic) to be spending a 2nd rounder. There's too much talent available at his projected draft slot to spend it on a one dimensional player. Is he serious? McGahee never ran a 40 at the combine-- remember, he had a knee injury? Hunt didn't run a 4.6-- he hasn't run yet-- combine and pro days are a month away. And weather you like him or not-- calling him one dimentional is absurd. Joe Paterno has called him the best all around back he has ever seen. He's an amazing runner, blocker, and caught a ton of balls at PSU. I've watched him play for 4 years, so my opinions come from what I have seen him do in over 40 games. I am tired of uneducated posters. People on here say they don't want turner because of the way Lamont turned out. BS-- watch his highlite on youtube, and then criticize his play if you want. I just can't stand people who throw out BS opinions that are either flat out wrong, or formed with no evidence, or knowledge of a player.
Is it really necassarry to create a thread for this? It couldn't have gone in the original one? I stated my opinion on Hunt, that's it. In the NFL, I feel he will be a one dimensional player. In the last 3 years his reception total is 39, 20, and 27. And here's the site with McGahee's 40 time http://www.nfl.com/draft/profiles/mcgahee_willis .
I dont know about what Foley said to yall but he did put up or shut up the cold hard facts. i saw the link and his 40 time was 4.24 in the campus agility test to me a 40's a 40. and he obviously displayed his speed the the second buffalo game we played from the flash i seen burst across my tv screen dat looked like a 4.2!!!
Nowhere does Glennfoley ever say that he ran a 4.24 40 at the combine. And i agree with him. In no way at all is Tony Hunt like Willis. Hunt is big bruiser. You never see him taking runs outside or bursting off 60 yard runs like Mcgahee did against us. In fact, i think the Tony Hunt Kavan Barlow comparison is right on. They have similar styles. That doesnt mean Tony Hunt is going to be the same "bust" as Barlow has kinda been. And please, threads like this are not necessary. If you want to call out bad posters perhaps you should look in the mirror sometime because you clearly do not know the purpose of TGG. TGG is a message board where people come to in order to state opinions and argue with other Jet fans. So why dont you argue with him in the original thread. And even if you disagree with someone it doesnt make them a bad poster especially about draft related things...because who the hell knows what these kids are gonna be like. I'm tired of people like you criticizing everything everyone says and making this board into more of a hate message board than one of discussing. But you dont see me making threads about it
For the record we're not the same guy. I'm actually a pretty positive guy when it comes to the Jets, just apparently we're fans of the same bust of a QB.
If you think McGahee ran a 4.2 , than you're brainwashed by sites that produce ESTIMATED 40 times. He never ran a timed 40 after that operation. I don't consider someones 40 time from 2 years, and 2 good ligaments ago, to be valid anymore, even if he did at one time pre-injury run a 4.2. That was on the NFL site-- the same one that reported Schlegal running a 4.94. I went to HS with a Penn State back who ran a legit 4.27 40 in high school, and that was displayed as his 40 time until the combine, when he ran a 4.55, and didn't get drafted. Anyway, I wasn't upset about McGahee, and frankly, I agree that Hunt isn't anything like Mcgahee, but when you call Hunt a one dimentional back, that just shows that you have not watched him play a single snap. Joe Paterno has gone on record to say that Hunt is the most COMPLETE back he has ever coached. I'm a PSU fan, and I can't let someone get away with posting blatently incorrect info about a player. The way this site just recycles material, next thing you know, everyone on here will be saying they don't want Hunt because he can't block or catch. Call me an asshole if you want- insult the fact that I made an unnecessary thread, that's fine- but as far as the Hunt argument is concerned, nobody on here can make a legit argument against what I have said. Like I said, I watched him play for 4 years-- I know the guy much better that someone who checks the occational draft site review.
I doubt McGahee ever ran a 4.2 on his 40 yard dash. He's fast, and was even faster before the injury, but not that fast. A 4.2 is like Deon fast, and McGahee just isn't on that level. Not saying that he isn't fast, but even LT only ran a 4.45-4.5 when he came into the league. Running backs just don't run sub 4.3, and if they do they are probably lacking the muscle needed to be very durable at all.
It's not worth arguing anymore because I don't think anyone is going to change their opinion at this point. I'm sure Joe Pa and every loyal Penn State fan has loved having Hunt on their team and have every right to feel he's going to succeed at the next level. However I have seen him play and feel his lack of speed is going to limit him as a pro runningback. He was a very productive college player who in my opinion may prove me wrong and become more than an average backup but for our personell and system I don't feel like he's a good fit.
Why didn't you just say so in the first place? It was the one dimentional remark that set me off. He's a great blocker and receiver. If you don't think he'll be good because of his speed- that's fine. Some guys have been productive without speed- some have been busts. He's not a fast back I'll give you that. But his blocking and receiving skills make him very multidimentional, and I think because of that he will be valued much more in this draft. Regardless-- Go Jets.
