According to Draft Daddy the Jets talked to Jay Moore at the Senior Bowl today. I said a while ago that if Carriker was gone before our pick or we didn't want to use a high pick on that position that Jay Moore had comparable size and production during his time at Nebraska and could be available much later. Keep an eye out for him.
Way ahead of you. Posted by yours truly on 10-24-2006 http://forums.theganggreen.com/showthread.php?t=13608 Not Jay Mohr, the comedian but Jay Moore the "other" DE that plays for Nebraska. I think this guy is a huge sleeper pick. I watched the Nebraska vs Texas game this past Saturday to watch the battle between 2 top rated prospects, DE Adam Carriker of Nebraska vs OT Justin Blalock of Texas. Adam Carriker did not disappoint; he is the ideal 3-4 DE, but I came away extremely impressed with Jay Moore. Now I know why Nebraska led the nation in sacks last year; it wasn't all Carriker. He is 6'4" and weighs somewhere between 270lbs and 280lbs depending on what site you are looking at. Just looking at him I would think 270lbs would be the more accurate number. The guy showed me some explosiveness off the edge and tremendous athleticism. Against top level competetion, he had a great game and made an impact all over the field. I think he can be a 3-4 OLB at the next level. He's also an Academic All-American so he fits the Tangini profile. I need to see him more but he reminded a lot of Mike Vrabel coming out of Ohio State. The highest I've seen him ranked on any site, if ranked at all, is 14th.

http://www.draftdaddy.com/blog/blog.cfm From Tuesday Senior Bowl practice: "Along the defensive line, Nevraska's Jay Moore displayed excellent edge rushing skills and pretty good outside contain. Coaches seem to be impressed with his work ethic and intensity. He's a guy that isn't incredibly flashy but brings his hardhat and lunchpail every down." He has the Tangini type of player written all over him.
Had two sacks today, both were given to him, but he showed pass rushing skills and still had a nice play on Leak in which he forced a fumble or something like that. Either way, Moore might just be a good 3-4 OLB. We'll see.
I agree with you 100%. I hope we get him in day two (which is where I think they have him projected). He's going to be a solid player!
A good DT prospect (from Yahoo!): Several junior college prospects were added last minute to the list of underclassmen. They included Northwest Mississippi Community College defensive tackle Walter Thomas, a one-time highly recruited interior defender from Galveston-Ball High School in Texas. He spent one year at Oklahoma State before heading to the J.C. ranks, but measuring at roughly 6-foot-3 and 335 pounds and having been timed in the 4.9-second range in his prep days, he may raise some eyebrows.
Really nice research Crimson IM interested in this guy. I know the Jets got a DT from another JC. His name is Marshall can anybody find his scouting report.
