These reports impacted betting markets. From a slam dunk, now Reese is anywhere between 51-58% favorite and Bailey is 41-42%. This is because there were several reputable folks, like DJ and others reported the Jets are leaning Bailey. It looks like there was some source that said that. I still don't think there is a leak, just based on the past.

But it could be there is smoke where the Jets want it to be close to 50/50 or unknown. So, if there is a team that really wants Bailey thinking he is Myles Garrett, or Reese for that matter, you don't really know what the Jets will do, and might consider a trade up. The secrecy/unpredictability is how every teams wants it... Now what they really think, who knows. Now watch them them draft Bain or Tate at 2 :)

The Jets want people to think they are interested in Bailey for trade purposes. A trade down and they could still get Reese.

For example the Cowgirls have to have Bailey so they trade the Jets the 12 and 20 for no 2. The Jets end up with 12, 16, 20 and some change, you throw the 12 and some change at the Giants and you end up with Reese after all and an additional first rounder (no. 20).

It might not work out like that, or a trade at all, but it's only to their benefit for the league to be guessing on what the Jets will do at no 2, since no. 1 is a lock

they are saying this year's draft will feature more trades than most in recent memory

Styles and Downs are the only two guys in this draft that look like future HOF guys to me. These remind me very much of Fred Warner and Kenny Easley. I get that edge is "more premium", but this organization needs to exclusively draft prospects that are as close to a "sure thing" as possible for about the next 15 years so they can maybe field an NFL caliber football team someday. Reese, Bailey, Bain....I don't see any of them as sure-fire successes in the league -- the Jets will pick one of them though, I'm sure, so I hope I'm wrong.

In Mougey I trust.. If there's anybody outside of Howie Roseman who can pull off a heist like this for our #2 its DM! Glenn needs to take a seat and watch how a future master handles this draft.

That makes a lot of sense. If everyone knows what we will do, they can sort of project what they can get with later picks. Then they are less likely to trade up if they feel their guy(s) will be at their spot anyway. But if they do not know and still want specific guy(s), they might be more inclined to trade up. Not sure how well it will work at #2, but if we can make odds close to 50/50 where people cannot project what we will do, there is more opportunity to trade down. And I do think Mooge would prefer to trade down if he can get another 1st and still get his guy(s).

I don't know if Reese is his guy (it would seem to reason he is) or it is a couple of guys he loves, like maybe Reese and Tate, but definitely if other teams don't know that and have to guess, it's a good thing for us, better than everyone and their mother knowing we are drafting Reese.

I have been an advocate of trading down with the second pick and still am. It would be an absolute win win for us, still get a stud or two.

Thing is he can rush in a 3-4/4-3/Nickel. We need to have a pass rush… McD isn’t anywhere close to enough. You are right there is smoke.. it kinda worries me because that could mean it’s Reese..

I’m not try to hate on Reese I just can’t deny my eyes looking at film and the kid vanishes on a lot of downs. Plus styles and Downs out shined him… Until he makes those 2-3 Wow plays a game and you see the potential. His Motor and FBI really worry me though. 2-3 plays a game doesn’t do it for me even though they are special.

You could be right. However, it doesn’t add up on film. Bailey and Bain are far far far more consistently dominant.

I hope you’re right Cman.. I have seen this movie before when people’s jobs are on the line and they panic to what the coaches want who’s asses are also on the line…

Interesting take. Reese says we're drafting for long term. Bailey says we're drafting short term. If Mougey wants Reese over Bailey, great. If Glenn wants Bailey over Reese or Bain? tells me he's trying to save his job with an '26 impact pick. I'm pretty sure Mougey knows the ramifications of a missed draft with this much ammo is if it doesn't pan out PDQ. If Glenn doesn't show improvement, he knows he'll be the only one walking the plank. If the team shows zero improvement with this many quality DP's? They both get bounced. A lot is riding on this and neither guy has the wiggle room to fck up although my gut tells me Mougey has more rope than Glenn.

    This 100%

I initially wanted Bain (i watch all Miami's game), but even my fanboy optimism at this point has been beaten out of me with the valid "he'd need to be the extreme outlier with that arm length" speculation. The run blocking concerns with Bailey scare me off him. Lots are gravitating towards Reese's "potential", but to me that is feeling like the most Jetsy type pick on the mock board. One that is chasing upside like my free swinging kid in baseball who is always striking out trying to hit the dream homerun when just making contact and putting the ball in play probably wins the game.

I'm on an island with this but I'll be all in rooting for Tate to be the pick at 2. No cute trade backs that won't there anyway. No getting caught up in generalized "you need to pick a premium position" logic in one of the worst top end draft classes (that lacks any legit can't miss premium position prospects) in recent memory. And certainly no big banking on the concept idea we are going to somehow wait and still hit on a latter pick/prospect. Not with WR pretty much being right up there with QB at this point on things we can't get right in the draft (spending a 10th overall pick on a #2 type WR who doesn't ever elevate anybody around him and couldn't take the next step with Aaron Rodgers throwing him the football wasn't a noteworthy draft W in my book).

Tate is the pick imo that is going to help this team the most in 2026, and maybe beyond ;)

It’s all about the vision of this GM, beyond this year but with an eye on the next five and future growth. We keep making the same comparison over and over but we ignore that both Bailey and Bain are full blown 4 year starters in the same position, two years more matured at edge versus Reese who is a monster already with actually one year under his belt on that position and more than 2 years younger but raw. Neither of the aforementioned two were as good in year two from all aspects of the game, run , rush, set the edge, not close. If you are drafting for the future and he grows at a similar rate arguably he will blow both of them out of the water as a three down defensive threat both as a hybrid backer and DE at the N F L level. Thats the gamble.
Mouge is not worrying about saving AG job now, but to build the best team for the future. This team has ways to go. It could be he sees Bailey as a bigger part of this team future than Reese, or not. But the decision is far more than out of the gate performance as the only discriminator.

I think if Glenn gets fired then so will Mougey. A big fish coach like Tomlin or Lincoln Riley could be intrigued with those 3 picks in 27’ to take the job and if so they will want the keys. Glenn and Mougey I feel will draft to fill holes rather than the true best players. Even though I think taking Bailey is the right pick either way.

I would be very happy. Only thing I would like more is to trade down from two.

Sounds great to say in theory.....but the harsh reality here is this never actually boils down to being true. Not with Woody cemented in at the top of a pyramid that is always being built on an overreaching set of "win sooner" expectations.

If this projecting to be bottom'ish tier offense sucks again next year everybody in the coaching room probably getting fired, and the Woody meddling level goes up. Maybe Mougey survives that, but his "vision" as a stand alone entity that isn't realistically having to cater more to ownership whims won't. We all realistically know this by now, and regardless how much it sucks it's still something that has to be factored in.

This is banking pretty heavily on the bet Tyson can both make a meaningful impact as a rookie, AND stay healthy. I don't like making that bet on top of drafting a chase the upside prospect at #2.

In my opinion Mouge so far has shown he is the only one in this leadership structure, while still growing on the job, with a solid well thought out plan. He has negotiated spectacular moves after inheriting a massive shit show. It’s thanks to him and only him we have accumulated premium picks for the next two years while back filling major holes after trading overpaid non performers created by our prior regimes. Not to mention weathering thr financial mess courtesy of the failed AR fiasco and the worthless trade from Philly for the pass rusher from hell. He even saved grace after the JF fiasco curtesy of AG desire to roll with a QB he could control.
If Woody, in his over arching football ignorance does not see thru that then there is no hope regardless of who the hell we bring, thus further cementing our massive ownership incompetence to correct what is really wrong.

Changing every one on a wing and a prayer after two years regardless of actual performance is idiotic. Of course there is no knowing what our owner would do, but if Moug has a decent draft once again regardless of AG performance he needs to remain and I quite frankly don’t care who the new coach is, Mouge must be the financial and personnel guru and let the HC coach.

As much as I love Tyson I do agree with you that Mouge will weigh value heavily and will go elsewhere with more of a sure bet starter, as much as people hate to accept it, they my even go stud G or CB/S with 16 and best WR at 33 or trade down. There is a strong possibility that they might be able to trade down either the second pick or 16th, get another one or two premium picks and really build this team for a next year all out QB strike.
    We shall see soon enough.

This should be getting more attention. Reese saying he never practiced pass rush at OSU and was freestyling. I think most pro scouts are aware of this hence him being the consensus 2. I’d imagine a guy like Glenn who knows he has Karl Dunbar teaching the DL looks at Reese like a ball of clay when it comes to pass rushing and he’s already a damn near perfect mold defending the run. This only solidifies my opinion that Reese has to be our guy and most likely will be.
