I am all in on picking a QB in 2027. I want no serious draft capital wasted on a QB prospect this year. This draft should be all about setting up the 2027 roster to be the best possible stage for a rookie QB to succeed. I'm okay with picking a QB in the 3rd or 4th round to push Geno this year and the Rookie next year and to become a possible long term backup. Nothing higher than that. If we can keep Geno to compete with and sometimes spell the '27 QB, all the better.
I just want to see the Jets win at least 8 games. I said it in a different thread recently, but you know it's bad when mediocrity is the Jets middle name and I'm rooting for mediocrity. Mediocrity is a step up when you're in the basement, unfortunately. PAIN. Anyway, we'll see if Mr. Slackjaw has more football intelligence than The Chimp, but I posit definitely not more than Sam Darnold. I never followed Geno Smith much after he punched his way out of here. OK, he didn't punch his way out of here, but I couldn't help myself.
The Jets have 3 first round picks next season. They have the flexibility to move up if they fall in love with a QB. They need to start winning games.
this assumes that whatever sucky team is willing to give away the "can't miss" QB for more draft capital (which they probably have already). It can happen, but seems risky to rely on that
The Jets already made it happen when they traded up for Mark Sanchez. Unfortunately the sucky team that made the trade either they were set at at QB or knew that Sanchez was a 'can miss' QB.
3 first round picks, and far to many holes to be trading up, , it's only been 16yrs since we seen the post season, what's 1 more, to get a real franchise QB
Judging by the moves so far, they don't seem to be intending to tank the season. I mean aside from trading for the statistically worst QB from 2025, but that Vegas tank job was pretty stout.
Yeah…I don’t think Glenn is in any position to tank the season….I think he has to show progress or he’s probably out. That being said, I think Mougey was pretty conservative in free agency…he signed a bunch of guys, most of them B tier type guys to raise the floor a bit rather than push the ceiling, no huge contracts…he played free agency so far like a GM realizing his roster is shit and he has to up it a bit, but he’s not swinging for fences really. The draft will bring the playmakers I hope. I think their mentality is to show progress, not to tank…
I actually think, for once, we have a GM handling free agency correctly. I've always heard the term build through the draft, supplement in free agency but that was a foreign concept to us. Mostly because we can't draft for shit. But with 4 top 44 picks this year and 3 first rounders next year, the strategy is a sound one. Now we just have to hit on the picks. I think it's a good sign that the GM didn't make any panic moves to bring in flashy names,
Me too…we’ve had way too many flashy name signings in our past that never delivered My only issue so far is the lack of attention to WR…I hate our WR group outside of GW…Smith was a total no show last year, Mitchell dropped as many passes as he caught seemed like, and that’s about it…I actually like our KR Williams quite a bit, but overall our WR room is among the worst in the league. I think Mougey knows this, and I suspect he has a plan on how to address it, maybe through the draft, maybe some kind of trade, we’ll see. It needs to be improved and I think it most likely will be, but I would have liked to have seen us address it already as a start
Geno will lead us to the promise land per Aaron Glenn!! Can't wait, time to get those Superbowl tickets boys and girls
What a disaster. He didn't learn from last season. Now they're going all in on Geno same as they did with Fields last season. Only thing left for them to do now is to pass up all the rookie QBs from this draft same as they did last offseason. This guy may be the worst Jets head coach I've ever seen he's that bad.
Or he could be a cheap GM. Time will tell. I'm at the point with these guys I question whether or not they have a fn idea what they're doing. I don't know. Their 'mentality' their jobs should be on the line. What we were forced to watch last season especially at the end was horrific and that's putting it kindly. Why should we stick with these guys because they show 'progress' in 2026 when Coach Mcdermott (98-50 coaching record) is out there waiting to be hired? Or Coach Tomlin but he's not my #1 choice. Why do it the slow way? Coach A.G. can show 'progress' someplace else which wouldn't happen 'cause he sucks and wouldn't get another head coaching job. Get people in here who know what they are doing.
Arch is the prize. A Manning QB. No one is trading out of the top spot. The Jets would have to trade away the farm for the B or C or D QB prospect.
But we'd have nothing to watch nothing to look forward to at QB if the wheels start to come off early. It'll be just like 2025 all over again It sounds like you may get your wish why draft a QB in round 1 or 2 if Geno is going to lead us to the promised land? It would only create controversy.
Perhaps when Coach said Geno is going to lead us to the promised land he meant the #1 overall pick in 2027 = Arch?
Glenn said he knows Geno is right guy for the job because “Geno is a qb with a chip on his shoulder.” He didn’t offer analytical reason why, just a chip on his shoulder, how can he have so much bravado? How many times can this guy be wrong about everything and still have support from the owner? I really don’t want to endure another 3 win season.
I've been vocal on here about questioning what the hell the jets are doing in free agency signing older players like they are ready to make a run this year instead of putting themselves in the best position possible for the 27 QB class. Now I know. These morons think Geno will "take them to the promised land" and that's why they are signing vets thinking they will win 3 more games. They are full on delusional. What a complete joke.
