During their Tenure I loved Joe Douglas the most, I thought he was great. Hindsight is different obviously but I was way higher on Joe D after the big draft then I've ever felt about Moug.

I'm not as optimistic about Davis as you--37 years old, 2yr-22m
Compare Alex Anzalone--very good LB--31 years old, 2yr-17mm
Leo Chanel--looked great in KC--only 25 yrs old--3yr--25mm--I would have signed Leo and Alex if I could given the possibility of playing a base 3-4. Here are your 2 inside guys and they still have gas in the tank especially Chenel.

Chanel would have been a great pickup but again we always forget that the player has to want to play here. Demario Davis even at age 37 is better than Anzalone. Will you get more time out of the latter? Yeah probably but he’s on a two-year deal. Not out of the question that we still get two more years out of Davis. And I also wouldn’t be shocked if the plan is to have a new draft pick in that spot come next year anyway. That signing was always going to be a bridge signing.

Those are good points. My read on their targeting Davis is largely about culture-building and having a dependable leader on defense who is still playing at a high level. A lack of that last year was a major issue and sounds like Sherwood was a huge disappointment in those departments. I can support it, but they really will need some future planning at ILB (and possibly present because I'm skeptical about Sherwood in a 3-4 alignment.

Agree he’s a bridge, and I do think part of the signing was to help build a better culture. But I do worry that he can fall off a cliff at any time…sure he may have another great year left but I think the chances of that at his age at that position are not better than 50/50.

I want to see results on the field first before I send him to Canton. Everybody thought that Joe Douglas was the greatest after his first draft…. Look where we ended up. Show me improvement ON THE FIELD.

DAMN, I’m starting to sound like Champ!:mad::mad:

    Am I really that old???;)

at this point, i would rate him above JD.....we don't trade buying high and selling low anymore

props to him for deals at deadline and refusing to discount Hall at the deadline.

Completely agreed. He's done fairly well on paper with the moves that he's made, or at least the trades that he's made, but the results need to show up on the field. He's the best GM we've had in well over a decade, probably closer to two, but that doesn't really mean much in the grand scheme of things because the bar is so low that an ant would have difficulty limboing under it.

Yeah probably I would also, but the sample size is still small…it’s not TOO hard to trade away All Pro players, though kudo’s to him he got great value in return. He’s only had one draft so far, and I’d say it was ok…workmanlike…a starting RT and a promising TE, a decent S, and maybe a promising CB, but the WR has been a total non factor (maybe due to terrible QB play).

JD had some great trades as well with Adams, but then as he got more desperate it all went to shit and he ends up making fucked up trades like the Reddick trade for a fucking disgruntled holdout player…crazy.

So just like JD, who did make some good moves early, Mougey is tearing down what the prior GM did (JD did similar like trading away Leo Williams, who coincidentally was also a big part of Seattle’s Super Bowl win) and will now have the chance to make his mark these next two drafts.

Let’s hope he delivers, but I am also in the “let’s see it on the field first” before I crown him the best GM since who, Tanny? Parcells?

JD got a 3d round pick for Williams though, that is not comparable for the haul we received. Adams trade is more comparable, and that along with one draft was the only good thing JD has ever done in 6 years, while losing a SB winning FQB in the process among other things. Mooge is doing a lot better so far than JD ever did. I think the biggest issue we have is coaching, but let's see what happens this year with all the changes Glenn made.

Has anyone else heard the Francesa podcast?? He said he has a very good source that said Glenn has lost all power to Moug, goes in depth saying Geno, Wink all of that was Moug not Woody. He said Moug is basically the man and Glenn has been relegated to just coaching and has no say in personnel. Fine with me lol, kick Glenn to the curb.

Makes you wonder who Mougey would pick as the next HC if it comes to that... Who would have thunk it.. The traditional Org Chart finally arrives at Florham Pk. Miracles..

Easy on crowing Mougey. He's the GM of a 3-14 team lol Let's see how these moves pan out on the field before donning him some top GM.

This draft will be huge for his resume. He needs to get an A grade with all these early picks. No excuses. We shall see.

If what we've seen so far is any indication, Glenn created the corner he finds himself in as all the FA moves and probably the top of the Jet draft will be to improve the defense that Glenn is now in charge of. If that defense doesn't show huge improvement, Glenn might as well resign. Mougey can get the players, but Glenn and his revamped CS has to make this all work and they don't have a long glide path.

I do think Mooge is no longer a sidekick, and it is GM's job to be responsible for the roster. There were multiple reports I cited before that Mooge had a very good reputation and people were surprised Glenn wasn't fired. However, I think the dynamic is just normal right now. GM is responsible for personnel working closely with the head coach, whose main responsibility is to coach. Basically it fells like the dynamic has shifted from Glenn being Parcells and Miooge a sidekick to more of a traditional operation.

I also don't buy it that Glenn didn't want Geno. Geno spoke about how Glenn tried to convince him to come there. Hard to tell what's true, what's not true, but I highly doubt Francesa has a source who knows this level of detail. I do believe Mooge is no longer a side kick and IS the main guy for personnel. That's how things typically operate, and I think Woody made that correction after stupid sidekick arrangement in the beginning. But the claim that Mooge blocked Wink or forced Glenn to call plays seems far fetched.

Mouge very clearly knows what he’s doing and his fate shouldn’t be tied to Glenn’s but at no point has Francesa been a reliable source.
