Its going to be a fucking circus now. It's just unimaginable how idiotic this team functions. It's unheard of.
Keep the joke going I guess, no amount of positive gymnastics by BA are going to change that. Immediately my phone blows up, I knew it was coming but I'm just so tired of being the butt of every other teams fans jokes. Only player I wanted less was Mac Jones.
What are you talking about? I was giving you statistics, those are facts, those aren’t my opinions. All you can do is say that this wasn’t it but you can’t explain what WAS it especially when your main complaint is yada yada yada 15 years of this… so you wanted 15 years of misery to end with this offseason‘s quarterback solution? If you’re going to say shit like that then you need some kind of solution. And if you’re gonna tell me Fields was a better option you’re absolutely going to have to explain why. Actual football reasons why.
The Raiders are taking a 3-year college starting QB who just won the Heisman and National Championship at #1 overall. They have no use for a veteran QB. We decided to beat the Falcons (which I admittedly cheered on at the time) so now we’re picking #2 in a 1 QB draft. They’re getting Geno to start for one year. His age is irrelevant. It’s not being positioned as a long term solution.
Positive gymnastics? I flat out said I don’t think he’s going to recapture what he did in Seattle. I brought that up to point out what he can do with a competent offensive line and running game. I have no delusions of grandeur with this move, he’s going to be gone next year and we probably aren’t going to be good this year. I’m asking the people that are whining what the better football solution was. Football solution. not a solution that would have made your feelings easier to deal with.
He had 3 good years in Seattle (well 2 good, 1 decent). He was bad last year right? Like JV said, with the absolute worst OLine in the NFL. Gentry was hit behind or at the LOS more than any RB in the entire league. So where would Geno's season stack up in the history of the Jets single season records? (he played 15 games btw) 67% passing completion - 3rd all time 19 TDs - tied for 15th all time 3,100 yards - 20th all time Geno throws a bunch of picks but he is a middle of the road, competent NFL QB these days.
This move is the front office's best path to the 1st pick in 2027. Why are you mad? This team was not going to compete in 2026.
With all due respect, "smacked in the fact with past failures" is not a fact nor even an opinion. I personally don't feel smacked in the face at all. I feel like we picked the best option from the dregs on the market, and paid next to nothing. He's here for one year, a year that was always going to be a sub .500 year. This signing is a nothing-burger, and that's a good thing.
I'm not interested in making excuses to try to convince myself this will be a good thing. We do that every year. EVERY YEAR. Can't wait for the circus this year... Yeah.. the fact that Geno has far worse gameplay tape than good is all I need. HE HAS ALREADY BEEN HERE? What are we talking about here?
This is the only argument that I've seen in this thread that makes me feel any kind of good right now. Literally. I need to get off the internet at this point.
Geno at least knows he's here for a year. This was the QB of last resort and from what I've heard, the Raiders are paying the bulk of the contract so its a cheap one year rental. Even with the Raiders, he still played better than Fields so perhaps it might be an upgrade in the end. Mougey is doing a pretty damn good job as GM. In time, he's gonna be one of the top GM's in the league.
I’m not a Geno Smith fan but there is no way Fields is better than Geno. We saw Fields when had a good oline that gave him time and Breece Hall, Garret Wilson was getting open, and still managed to suck on a level we didn’t think existed. With FR as the OC, a good oline, Breece Hall and maybe another top receiver with 16th pick in draft, Jets can manage to stay in some games and not be blown out by the 2nd quarter. This is a one year stop gap solution, I’m tired of Tyrod Taylor, and every other backup in the NFL, there are simply not enough good backup QBs right now. I may not like it, but I get it.
The guy has clearly figured something out since 2022. If you want to ignore that, then fine. I'm not. I didn't want Geno, but at least he's a competent QB who can push the ball down the field.
Here you go again… I’m still waiting for you to tell me what wouldn’t have been a circus this year. And the answer of Justin Fields will only be laughed at by anyone who watches football.
I will definitely have feelings at the end of the year, and I imagine they will focus almost entirely on our coaching staff, our young players, and how the 2027 QB draft class will be performing in the upcoming CFP. If I'm feeling anything about Geno Smith, something really weird has happened.
This. Dude is out here having a meltdown talking about how he has to get off the Internet because the Jets traded for Geno Smith. And for some reason I expected a logical conversation?
