we send a sixth, get back a seventh. This is absolutely baffling. We gave up something and we take on the contract? I sure hope some more details trickle out because if this is us taking on what’s remaining of his deal it’s a terrible move.

OK, Tom Pelissero of NFLN reporting that the Raiders are going to be eating most of the contract and we will be paying him “a little more than the minimum“. More than fine with the pick swap now.

Per Schefter, they are restructuring Geno's contract.

According to Russini he was in the facility this morning to take a physical, really impressive that that didn’t leak immediately.

Had to figure something like this was coming. This regime needs to put a real product on the field next year.

There are also probably 5-6 QB’s that will probably be taken in the first round next year with no clear cut top option. So the Jets don’t need to be picking in the top 5 to have the opportunity to draft someone.

In before everyone blames Geno for the Raiders sucking last year. Their line was one of the worst I can remember while he was throwing to Jakobi Myers for 7 games and often injured Brock Bowers and then no one else with no running game.

Whatever. The qb that we sign is really not significant. We aren't going to be good next year and I don't see an intentional tank.

Very interesting to read that we made this trade because Minnesota was very interested and we wanted to keep him off the market. That means two things… Minnesota wanted him over Kyler and we may have had a shot at Kyler… But would that have even been a good thing?

Can we get Darnold back instead?

    This team man.

It's a one year run but is this really better than Fields? Sigh

Yes. It’s absolute better than Fields. Geno isn’t good but with the OL and run game (and open receivers) Fields had last year, Geno would have had a decent season.

And the good news is if this option fails it’s only for one year and every other option is arguably worse.

Hard to get mad about this one until we see what Geno's contract will look like. Using a top 40 pick in this draft wouod be a horrible move. Maybe this means they will be patient and do the right thing on draft day.

We will see.. I completely disagree.

Geno hasn't really done anything in the league yet beyond his one okay year.. We shall see..

This team fucking sucks. I'm so perturbed with this trade. Gross. I am -10 on feels with this move.

Yep. One was already on the team, one we had to trade for. We had to go out of our way for this shitty taste in our mouths. Fuck this team.

Every pick can be significant. History says otherwise.

The three seasons before this past one all would have been some of the best seasons by a Jets QB in a long time. He led the league in completion percentage for one of them. Averaged 24 TDs and 11 INTs. Not that he’s gonna replicate that but there’s precedent for saying he can play well with a good offensive line and running game.

we dropped 20 spots in the early 200s. I cannot imagine complaining about that.
