Correct, considering how much edge guys are getting paid we need to nail down one of Bain, Reese, Bailey
We signed Dane Belton, S for the Giants last year who finished with 100 tackles. 1/$4 mil. Really love the way we’ve attacked today.
Points? Who needs those lol. Probably the most blatant how do I save my job FA start ever "Hey Moug, we are going to have to attack the defense this FA, when we get to the draft we can worry about offense... after the second round".
Glenn can go to Woody and say he made the defense better, from dead last to middling. That's his superpower
we had the worst defense in the league last season. Half the guys we started shouldn’t even be on rosters. This is the exact right way to do things considering what’s available on the market. On this Belton dude… lowest missed tackle rate of all safeties.
Seriously - I would be all for Carr signing [if he is willing.] I for one cannot stomach him getting career ending injury because of the putrid turf in Metlife, or thanks to putrid pass protection, or thanks to putrid play call.
I'm a huge fan of BTJ. Not sure why he wasn't a fit with Coen but I think he would be better than an Omar Cooper or Surratt.
Great day one. We upgraded the D at safety and DL significantly and will be able to shed a few weak links once and for all from the defensive lineup. We are gearing up for a 3-4 hybrid with emphasis on bigger bodies able to stop the run and attack the O. Reese, short of a trade down seems With that said, my fear that the O was more vulnerable than people thought is coming true. While Simpson was not the long term answer loosing him and AVT is very problematic. Need help before the draft and at the draft hopefully with a second rounder and again on the 4th. Spot on. Mind you is day one of free agency. I urge those bitching to look at the price of the top O players signed on day one at WR and O line and tell me that is an investment Mooge should have made, especially with our many, many needs, and still a QB TBD. Good heavens. For once we are doing it right.
The Packers released Elgton Jenkins who has played all three positions along the offensive line which I think was a bit unfair to him (particularly moving him to center). He’s 30 and on the down slope of his career but I think his best spot was guard if I remember correctly. He’d be a good addition.
Based on nothing but gut feeling I think we keep AVT stay away from splashy signings. Since we stink we’d have to pay a premium. If we were contenders we’d get a discount for title chasers. use FA for depth and holes.
I think you may be living a bit in the past. The turf at MetLife was changed about three years ago to a state of the art material highly rated and widely used on major NCAA and NFL fields. I have seen nothing since then pointing at the current playing surface as a factor in injuries. Each game gives the opportunity to improve play calls and protection - why dwell on past failures?
Not saying we didn’t need the defensive help, but good god, this franchise just keeps ignoring offense year after year and we wonder why we suck in a league where the rules are stacked to encourage offense. We need help at G and WR let alone QB.
I heard earlier on Asman, that it's being reported AVT does NOT want to be a JET, and wants to play elsewhere( how true this is, I don't know).... If so, can we get something valuable for him if that is the case?
Not counting QB? Pretty much nobody that made sense atm for a bottom dwelling rebuild team. I kinda liked Dotson at his flyer contract but no biggie.
