Seriously…why this team always devalues kickers on a team where our offense sucks is beyond me. He was reliable and a good kicker…stupid to let him go
Did we make an offer? Seems like he wanted to be here last year. If we got hugely outbid I get it, but if not, then I don’t understand the move
Ok so just a few hours in and what’s the summary? We got a great deal on Minkah…hard not to love that deal…we got a few no-name rotational guys on DL I guess…no idea if they’re any good so we’ll see…we got a very good but very old LB so hard to know how to really feel on that one…he may still play great but also just as likely his play declines significantly…and we lost a solid reliable kicker…the only part of our team last year that was any good got a bit worse until proven otherwise...and we lost a starting OG which can probably be replaced without too much trouble. And we have a disgruntled RB on a franchise tab. Ok…so far, I’m kinda meh…I like the Minkah trade but the rest of it doesn’t move the needle for me. Maybe Mougey has a good eye and a couple of these DL additions (including the Sweat trade) really gel. It’s not impossible. So far no real splash signings, which honestly is probably a good thing. Curious to see what we do on offense…QB obviously will be the main thing for this offseason but would love to see us sign a guard and a WR, and go into the draft to get the splash talent.
Well I mean the front 7 was probably one of the worst in football if not the worst in football. They added a bunch of players to that front and a safety. So the defense got way better I think.
Hearing from Jet beat writers that theyre still in the ILB market. I bet Sherwood could get dealt. Also the DL from the Saints seems like a good signing for the DL. Hes older and it's a good amount of money, but sounds like a real solid player. Theyre really bolstering the run defense.
The defense needed significantly more help. We have money and 4 top 44 picks (Although 2 will be Reese) to address the offense. I'd bet we look at the trade market for a WR too. On that note, we signed DT David Onyemata, former Falcon but more importantly former Saint with Aaron Glenn. Big body, above average run stopper according to Twitter scouts. Hard to be upset with the approach we're taking.
I agree but with respect to the front office, Pierce & Linderbaum getting scooped up has left the offensive free agent cupboard pretty bare. They should go get Cade Mays (G/C) from the Panthers.
Mays signed with the Lions, 3/25. But I agree with your overall point. This was not a compatible FA market for us offensively. Everything we needed defensively we're getting.
I'm probably the only one that didn't want Folk lol. The Denver game when our genius HC didn't know the down and distance on the kick we would have won easily if we had a kicker with some range. Kickers now give you a shot from the 50, Folk is accurate but I want a leg.
Onyemata and Enegbare are on one year deals, so while they're each making $10 mil this year and maybe above market value. that's $20 mil off the books next year if we move on.
