We need two veteran QBs, anyway, so I am totally cool with Wentz being one of them. He did really well with with Reich. He even did well last year for 3 games until he broke his shoulder and tore labrum. Durability is a concern, but I think he can still play and won't demand much. Maybe we get both him and Geno. Pickings are just so freaking slim, this combo seems as good as anything we can get.

Will you be comfortable with Carr and Wentz. I seen that mentioned in a few places.

Everyone is in on Pierce. He’s got the market by the balls and I suspect he will get a major contract aka overpay. I do like him just saying everyone does

Wandale Robinson is probably a more realistic option here. He’s small but could do work in the slot so Garrett Wilson can play outside

I love Anthony Hill at #44 but might have to take him at #33. But this also depends upon what we do at 2 & 16.

From everything I’ve read Robinson is a lock to land in Tennessee with Brian Daboll. He’s going to get paid a ton too.

Wait, your telling me that no QB with any other options wants to come to the Jets dumpster fire and want to start, or be a stopgap for the great Jets? What are they thinking?

I actually like Derek Carr, I thought he was very underrated. Much like Stafford, he could not win with bad teams. Last year he played was the perfect illustration of the value he brought. With him the Saints were 5-5 team, a solid .500 team. People were saying, well, he can't put them over the top. Then he gets hurt, and they go 0-7. Literally the absolute worst record in the NFL, a total laughingstock. So, is that Carr's fault he didn't win in play-offs with the team that without him has the worst record in the NFL? I don't think so, it was a big testament to him that he was able to even keep this team competitive.

So, a healthy Carr, sign me up, even now after he missed entire year. That (missing a year) btw is not ideal at all, but not the biggest issue. The problem is he is not as healthy as he portrays. He does not have labrum in his throwing shoulder, never got the surgery. I am no doctor, but I think it's just common sense that he could get hurt again literally at any moment without a ligament that attaches the throwing hand to the shoulder. That makes Carr a lot less attractive even if he does want to play for the Jets. If we get Wentz and Carr, we probably also have to get Simpson and hope Wentz/Carr between the two of them can last half a season before Simpson takes over. And given how small and fragile Simpson is, we might be going with Brady Cook even sooner than last year. :)

IMO if we cannot get two of the guys we discussed earlier, we might need to go with your suggestion to try to get Brissett for a 5th or a 6th. But I do think we need two vets, one of whom is durable. Ideally without giving up draft capital.

I would actually prefer Carr and/or Geno to Murray...I'm glad that I'm hearing we're not at all interested in Cousins, fuck that guy. But yeah, I'd rather have Carr a year away from the game or even Geno (and I'm not a huge fan of Geno honestly), but as stopgaps, yeah I'd take either guy over Murray, even though I understand Murray may be the better player on the field.

Personally, I'd still call Houston to see what it would take to get Mills, and I'd give up a third to do it and let him play.

not sure what it would take to get him but that's a call I'd make

    *gasp*

Geno Smith? What are they thinking? I don't get these guys at all.

The Raiders the one team picking ahead of the Jets in the NFL Draft Geno was their starting QB this is who they're possibly targeting to 'upgrade' our QB room? And it's not as if Geno was a smashing success with the Jets in his first go round.

Isn't that what the Jets did? Fields & Tyrod.

No, the reason why no one want's come here is not Brady Cook. The reason is that we are a 15 year in a row losing organization with no QB and a lame duck coach. Next year new regime might want to run new scheme and get new players. Not because we had to play Cook, who btw was not the only reason why we lost by a lot.

Some of these things could have been remediated if we lost one of the meaningless games we won by STs and Woody hired new HC, but it didn't happen. If you anything, while looking at QB options, you should realize how that extra meaningless ST win we discussed before cost us HUGE. However I am absolutely confident that Brady Cook's play has very little to do with FA not eager to com here.

Similar but Tyrod was already on the roster.

Yes, and until we can draft a good young QB these will be our options. Hopefully we will get a little luckier this time and also have better coaching, but yeah the QB situation is very similar and will continue to be very similar until we draft a good one.

You took that way too literal. I was using it as an example of some of the things we’ve done to make ourselves one of, if not the least desirable place to play professional football.

We’re just under 24 hours away from agreeing to terms with a third tier LB none of us have ever heard of that played for Brian Duker at some point.

I wonder what Geno007 would think about this if his account still existed.

Did I hear Derek Carr???? What??? Isn't he retired? Why would he come out of retirement and play for the dumpster fire that is the Jets? What am I missing here?

1 - He has nothing better to do.

2 - He can't collect Social Security for at least 28 years.

3 - Cold, hard American cash.

Note - Please feel free to add any opinions I may not have considered.

Tua officially being released. Prepare for it. It’s happening. Absolute disaster waiting to happen.
