As of now with the current Jets picks and prior to FA I’m thinking along the lines of:

    2) Reese or Bailey
    16) Lemon or best WR available
    33) OG - maybe Pregnon
    44) LB most likely Jacob Rodriguez….

Some people here may think this is too soon for Rodriguez but from what I’ve read he has top 50 talent and the Jets could use an infusion there. The Jets were all over Rodriguez at the senior bowl and combine. He’s an old fashioned LB, smart, hard hitter and hustles a typical ILB. Lunch pale type guy.

I would be very happy if we come out of the first round with a stud pass rusher and a receiver…exactly what I want to see

Yes and FA is going to determine a lot. I don’t expect the Jets to make a lot of big ticket signings but I’m hoping for one. If they surpass our expectations and were to sign Linderbaum at C and then draft Pregnon the starting OL is wt for the next 4-5 years. Or if they sign Pierce as the tall X WR and then draft Lemon the WR room is set for years…

Just one of those signings would be outstanding ….

I thought Linderbaum is spoken for.

I might have it confused, did the Chargers just trade for a center?
I stand corrected, they got Biadasz

Well I googled and it looks like the Bears have offered Linderbaum $90 million over 4 years….or at least it’s a solid rumor. Yikes ..

For kicks. I just watched Colin Cowheard forecast of the first 15 picks of the draft. Jets pick Bailey at two, Reese to Tennessee at 4, and damned Lemon to the Rams a couple of picks before the 16th. Styles gets picked at around 8 I think. Bain later than that.

Who was left on the board for the Jets at 16? Anyone interesting in particular?

A lot of forecasts show the Giants taking Styles…

I need Togo back and revisit. I was hoping for Styles or Makai.

I found it on utube and went through it quickly. He had Styles going to Washington but I doubt he makes it past Haubaugh…

If the board fell that way the Jets may be inclined to trade down 3 or 4 spots if they found a partner …. Maybe still get Denzel Boston at that point.

Good point. He might very well have the order wrong but most if not all those mentioned will be gone by the 16th pick.
There is still a part of me that thinks if we could find a trade partner, I would trade down a few spots with the first pick, and made be do the same with the 16th pick.

Another tidbit of trivia. The trade of Crosby to the Ravens indirectly hurt the Jets draft a bit. Why, because the Raiders gain a 14th spot first rounder, giving them more fire power than the Jets, and arguably much more likely to target the same top choice at 14 as the Jets at 16., as they both have very similar needs and potential same targets on both side of the ball.

yeah that kind of sucks...I REALLY want a top WR with our second first round pick, but to be honest, we have so many needs all over the place that it sure feels like we'd be able to fill a need regardless.

but to me, outside of QB obviously, we HAVE to come out of this draft with top Edge and WR help...we NEED a WR2 like nobody's business...

I like Sabo, and I am cool to draft Reese with #2, but I do think he is overreacting there. Bailey is not top 10 pick (not just top 2 he said not a top 10), hurts his teammates, egregious run defense, destroys integrity of the defense, avoids contact, etc... The defense seemed to have integrity in the play-offs against Oregon as I recall... This is not a serious article, a fail by Sabo IMO. I understand preferring Reese, and I am fine to take him for the upside, even though there is a bit of extra risk there, but Bailey is not as bad as he says. Would be interesting to see how the draft plays out.

I do like Sabo because he backs it up with film. It’s not some shit Nania piece with color coded charts and relying on only numbers. What Sabo is breaking down is what we already kinda knew about him but it’s being explained just how red flaggy some of it is. And I did say “as of right now” because albeit way less, there’s stuff on Reese’s tape that could be cleaned up but it’s not right now.

Its amazing how the Haasan Reddick trade complicates things so much for us. The amount of good options if we still had pick #68. Top of the 3rd round is a great place to select a guard or safety.

    Oh well.

16 and 33 is gonna be a safety hotbed. There’s a lot of good ones available in that range.
