I am sick of seeing Andrew Beck play fullback. I watch year after year what the 49ers and Ravens do with their fullbacks. I love the young man from Michigan. I would be thrilled if we draft Max Bredeson late in the draft. It's sad when a fullback would make me happy
I was posting about Brendon in the draft forum during the year. He’s always involved in springing running lanes at Michigan. Would love to have him.
Don't shoot the messenger, food for thought. We have a lot of money and picks and plan to use 2 on a pass rusher. I bet 16 and a 27 1st would do it or even 2 and a second next year may do it as well. https://x.com/i/status/2024196492173414789 "The Raiders are seeking “at least” two 1st-round picks and a “premium” player in any potential trade for Maxx Crosby, per @AdamSchefter #RaiderNation"
If Crosby is trying to get out, it's because they are a shit organization doing things that don't make sense. The Jets may actually be worse.
Don’t know what the asking price would be, and he’s a great player and I’d love to have him, but outside of a QB, we are in NO position to trade multiple picks for Crosby. No way. We have WAY too many holes all over the place. We can draft one of the pass rushers at 2 and be done…they may not become Crosby but they would only cost one pick. Outside of a QB, there is NO way we should be trading multiple picks for anybody. Hard stop
While I agree in principle we have a major challenge in front of us. There has to be a plan to enter the season with a competent QB this year, unfortunately not too much available without some sort of a trade. It will be a tough go. I’m not in favor of trading our top picks for any position unless is an absolute significant upgrade at the helm, and even then I would not depart with the top two. The notion of going into this year with a scrub as QB is clearly not a reasonable plan either. I don’t want another Field experiment. I want someone that can actually throw the ball accurately and read defenses quickly.
The Jets lead the entire league in dead money at the tune of over $91 M. This is absolute lunacy, $91M owed to players that are no longer on the team anymore. And most did not contribute much at all when there. Pissing away the team future thanks to JD nightmare negotiations. Massive and absolute incompetent performance. Moug has his hands tied financially like it or not from that horrendous performance from JD. As much as I dislike Woody, is clear that he does not want to go down this stupid path ever again. We have a rough go ahead of us.
Yes and no. Horrendous contract management by Douglas but Mougey isn't innocent. He chose to spread the Aaron Rodgers hit out to two years. Also let's not feel too bad for him... we have the third most cap space in the league. If that's not an indicator of how little talent you have... $91 mil in dead money yet you have the third most cap space. That's what happens when you start the year with only three premiere players and trade two of them. That being said... not a bad place to be when you have the amount of picks we have over the next two years. Cost-controlled assets. That's how good teams build. We historically are not one of those.
There is a misconception about spreading Rodgers over two years and CAP implications. That was the right thing to do. Unused CAP gets carried over anyway. You are not losing anything at all by splitting the cost. If you don't use whatever you saved this year, it will just carry onto the next and offset Rodgers. But if you have someone to use it on you can do that too. And Moofe didn't really make too many wasteful signings. Fields of course is one, but they wanted to take a dart throw at a potential long term solution at QB, and I can't blame them. There weren't really any other big spendings. Also, as CAP goes up every year, Rodgers CAP hit in 2026 was like taking an interest free loan. Plus we are in good spot overall, so Mooge has done his job at CAP management IMO, including the Rodgers CAP allocation.
Moug has done as good as he possibly can. We probably can't extend Sauce and Garrett without the Rodgers contract decision so I don't even hate it. I'm just saying in terms of handicapping what we can do this year, that was part of the decision. And the bigger point is I don't think we're handicapped at all. We have tons of money to spend.
Man that is crazy…so much dead money and yet 3rd most cap space…insane I get Rodgers is a big part of that dead money $91M…not sure what the rest of it is…
He has done good so far but the Jets have been down this road before. Mougey needs to build this the right way. I’m expecting decent FA acquisitions but nothing that breaks the bank so to speak. I’m expecting about 4 day one starters in the draft. That’s how you build a team.
Sauce Q Mosley MC2 That will go up when we cut Fields but so will our cap space. Again... that's how you know you are completely void of talent.
