Actually, I don't mind Asman. I've watched a show or two. I mean, really, when it comes to the Jets, I think we are ALL at full blown rant stage and I feel for him... Thanks for sharing! Watching now, actually.
Good luck it's disgusting, kinda makes it hard to talk about FA, draft etc when it seems all for naught
You know, the ONE thing, so far, that just blows me away is the Mangini comments. Yeah, Mangini kept Johnson on the "outside" of the circle because Johnson is a colossal fuck up! So THAT is what gets him canned? So much for finding a coach "strong enough" to keep Johnson OUT of the damn team business. <sigh>
It truly is, we all know it but to hear it again is tough. This organization is fucked unless Woody basically gets incredibly lucky or he finally steps away and let's a football guy run the entire operation. That means the 2 lawyer clowns under him get fucked as well.
The Tebow acquisition has to be one of the dumbest/ biggest WTF moments in Jets history, especially with Tanny trading a 4th round pick. LOL I don't want an offseason like that either. BUT I'll take a preseason like that, where i remember nothing from those games. Meaning no excitement for preaseason stars who do nothing in the regular season like David Clowney, Kenny Yeboah or Chris Streveler.
I’m looking forward to the unwarranted optimism post-draft when at least one poster will confidently predict a 12-5 season because we selected Rayshaun Benny of Michigan in the sixth round.
Sad part is there is always a few like that every year, but I think this year we are not going to see any of that… It just feels like hope is at an all time low across the board…at least it is for me
It is for me as well but I already see it creeping in amongst optimistic fans. I'm just not letting myself get caught up in the posturing and bullshit. The bright spot for me is that I don't think it will matter what the record is as much anymore Glenn is probably gone after the season (thank God). He seems like he's been all but stripped from offensive input, possibly the draft and some other duties. Even if the defense and offense are middle of the pack but it's clear Reich is the reason the offense improved then why keep Glenn? A middling defensive coordinator should not be a head coach, even our terrible FO can see that. I think Woody is just saving a few bucks keeping Glenn as the DC before cleaning house again next offseason.
I'm looking forward to a 17-0 regular season and an unbeaten playoff run culminating in a Super Bowl and the 2026 Jets being mentioned as one of the greatest teams of all time. JK. If we can play some watchable football this year, that's a good start.
The only thing to look forward to with optimism is the introduction of the new HC and GM in January or February of 2027.
Yeah, hard pass on that one. I also saw on the official jets facebook that they were doing a poll on which uniforms fans like most. The “classic” won by a lot. So I’m holding out for hope that they change back
That is absolutely not something to look forward to, AS THE RESULTS WILL NOT BE BETTER under Woody. First off, Moug did nothing to deserve being fired, AG is another story, but there is zero confidence that Woody would make the right choice in the future. Short of a miracle of AG improving by a bunch, we might be back on the same rinse and repeat cycle with the same results. Not something to look forward to IMO.
Unless Woody sells the team, it’s the only thing we have. All we have is the dice roll that comes every time Woody makes a change. The next one most likely won’t work, but we know it’s not getting done with the last coach that he picked. I’ll take the 0.01% chance over the 0% chance we currently have. Also, Mougey hasn't done nearly the job that he's given credit for. Part of the reason that the offense was as bad as they were last year was his refusal to sign a #2 WR to the team. Going into the season with literally just one WR, who himself is really a #2 WR in this league, was mind boggling. His draft has been largely overrated as well. Yes, he hit on the 1st rounder, but the others that he's constantly praised for (Mason Taylor, etc.) showed little in the first year and are still coasting by on the overhyped expectations they had coming into the season that they did not in any way rise to meet. He rebounded nicely with the trades at the deadline, but that was only because he was forced into that situation by terrible mistakes that he and Glenn made upon their arrival. His work looks "good" to us because, as mediocre as it's been, he's been light years better than his immediate predecessors in the job, who are among the worst GMs to be employed by any NFL franchise.
I've been thinking about this for a bit, after listening to that Asman show twice. This team is simply NOT lucky enough to mitigate Johnson. If 15 years of this bullshit hasn't convinced you of that then nothing will. There's not a coach on the planet who can mitigate Johnson. Not one that is coming here. That is a fact and the sooner we come to grips with it the sooner we can all go about our days. At this point, my fandom is on life support. One thing I'll never be accused of is banging my fucking head into a wall just because. I need to see a 180 degree full shift in ORGANIZATIONAL PHILOSPHY or I'm out. Life is too fucking short.
Thanks to this team sucking, I've developed a true love for fishing in the late summer and fall. Sundays are optional for me as I can either watch the game OR, get on a headboat and do something productive with my time. This year, it will really depend on if there's any improvement in the quality on the field. If not, you can find me on the Jersey shore trying to get on a boat. Not wasting more Sundays anymore. Life it too short.
