I think Evan and Tiki interviewed the guy who made that story about Gruden, and honestly I'm not sure that guy is being genuine. The interview came off like he just doesn't like Aaron Glenn, which is becoming a thing. Rosenblatt also changed his stance like a lawyer. "My report was a phone call happened between the jets and Gruden." Waste of time reporter.
I think that if they get Reich as OC, and now have Glenn calling the 2026 defense, the jets will be better than 2025 (how could they be worse?). The jets had Todd Bowles as their coach for years-- Bowles had a less than great DC calling the jets defense for years. Bowles would not replace him, and the guy IMO was a poor DC. When Bowles got his second gig with Tampa, he got smart and called the defense himself & they were better. The one positive thing with Glenn retaining control over the defense is that at least Glenn spent a whole year watching Jamien Sherwood and Will McDonald get totally overpowered by NFL offensive linemen-- MAYBE, just maybe, he will learn and replace those overpaid scarecrows with some bigger bodies on DL and LB. Also, the new DC formerly w the Dolphins should also be able to brief Glenn on what the other teams identified in 2025 as the vulnerable spots on the jets offense and defense. No, I don't think Glenn is a great coach, but IMO I prefer this DC hiring to an old vet like Wink who I never really thought was a good fit for Glenn's 4-3. I also think Reich, if hired, will be better than Engstrand as OC and might be a good replacement for Glenn if 2026 is a disaster--much like the Bills decision to promote their OC to head coach.
Spot on. He (and Russini) does not have reliable sources around the League when it comes to the Jets, and these that he has go out of their way to make the Jets look bad with half truths, something they may have heard from someone else, out of context, and other noise. Completely unreliable, but always aimed against the Jets. He is otherwise a pretty decent beat writer, but the reporting from his "sources" is just bullshit.
My man...you could fall off the crapper and have a better season than last. Outside of going 0-17, this was epic a failure of a season as you will EVER read about. Until next year, that is...
I would have been more OK with an 0-17 season where improvement was being shown as the season progressed and the team was in a few of the games but just got unlucky here and there over having, statistically, the worst December in NFL history and being the first team in 100 years to not record an INT over the course of an entire season. I think if I were presented those two options at the beginning of the season, the 0-17 option probably would have looked more appealing.
Funny part is…you don’t actually have to make anything up to make Woody and this franchise look ass They do a pretty damn good job of it all on their own…
You can say that again. Btw, @Jonathan_Vilma and a few others asked about Mobile report I heard, Jake brought this up again and I noted it, see below. Basically at Mobile Jake talked to a lot of people from NFL teams, agents, other media people, and perception of the Jets is very poor how they handled assistant coaches being fired very late, 3 weeks after the season, Tanner demotion, the DC hiring process to ultimately get to Duker. Coaches are perceived to be treated poorly and don't really want to come there and feel like it is a mess, and Glenn is rudderless and makes things up as he goes along. He does not mention Mooge in this bit, but before he did say Mooge is perceived as a solid competent guy from talking to people at Mobile, unlike Glenn. 16:50
