We haven't won shit in 15 years. This is the first guy we've had as GM that had a kernel of a clue since the Late 90's. Its called a leap of faith man. At this point, we have absolutely NOTHING else to hold on to. From the indications, Woody is coming around to the "Prior Experience" school of management finally so let hope that shit stays thru the upcoming season. Glenn is trying his best to get experience in the bldg. but is coming up short mainly because everyone can look at our schedule and see another catastrophe on tap. Glenn won't survive '26 and I would be curious what the over/under is on that. I'm hoping Mougey has a Machiavellian streak and puts that shit into effect. We're gonna need some extraordinary thinking and planning to get us out of this sewer. Its CODE RED man. No other way to describe where this franchise is at the moment. As the saying goes: "desperate times call for desperate measures.."
I hope you're right. To me the indications are that Woody is pulling half measures like you usually does. Everything that's going on the past few days, but still hanging on to Aaron Glenn just screams incompetence to me.
Me too. But what we all including Woody see is the end of the Aaron Glenn Era coming. Its only a matter of WHEN, not IF. Contingency planning has to be implemented right now so for once, this franchise isn't caught flatfooted on Draft Day. Mougey and the Scouts need to run this draft. Glenn only needs to be in the room. The '26 draft is or should be more about '27.
And all of that goes back to whether Mougey is both competent and able to implement what he wants to do. I think it's a big ask, but as you stated, it's all we have right now!
Based on previous experiment of hiring shitcanned Dolphins coach, this is gonna be glorious. Honestly, AG is a bigger shit show than I ever thought possible...
Kind of curious that this guy wasn't a part of the initial batch of interviews that the Jets announced several days ago. Sounds like there is no plan and we're just making it up as we go.
Yes but a name like that would bring stability and we know he’s being in a top OC. After all he was the head coach as Josh Allen developed …
It looks like these they liked from the original 8, including Wink, wanted to call plays in order to come here. https://x.com/snyjets/status/2016580263887691993 "Martindale and Glenn began discussing a partnership in December, with talks heating up to the point Martindale pieced together a staff who began telling sources SNY touched base with it was a 'done deal.' The plan was to have Martindale run the defense. Saturday, Martindale flew to Florham Park for an in-person interview. This was believed to be a formality – dot the I's, cross the T's, here’s your office and there’s the cafeteria. Upon Martindale’s arrival, talking to sources close to the situation, the original plan discussed between him and Glenn changed. The Jets head coach said he wanted to call the defensive plays. This was not something previously discussed with Martindale, or other candidates the Jets touched base with. This is where a potential partnership between Martindale and the Jets fell apart, and why Jim Leonhard was never considered a realistic option. Sources told SNY on Monday that the Jets now preferred a lesser-known coordinator with Glenn calling the plays. They found that in Duker." Don't know if this was the plan all along or a change in plan. Unfortunately no one asked Glenn at the presser if he wanted to call plays.
DM strikes me as kind of sly ….. I’d be willing to bet he knows AG is a goner and is already putting feelers out for Woody …
He really is PMO each day in a different way. Why tell someone you are looking for a Coach to call plays, then when they interview or show up change your mind. Know what your doing before you do it clown
I think the simplest explanation is the right one here: he didn't change his mind, was just open to all options. Once he interviewed with the guys, discussed the details of what they wanted to do, he realized he wants to run his own defense as the best option. I think that's all there is to it. Wink didn't like it, as I am sure some others didn't either, so he talked to someone talented, young, up and coming he knew who would OK with it, Duker, and hired him. The process was a shit show, but ultimately he arrived to what I believe is the optimal outcome he could, which is to call the defense himself and get a young guy from the outside to give fresh ideas. Whether it works or not remains to be seen, but I think this is the best that he could do. Btw, Bob is going to call the plays in Tennessee too: https://titanswire.usatoday.com/sto...defensive-plays-tennessee-titans/88262009007/ Said he should have called plays for the Jets also. Even though he had success with Brick, he thinks he would have done better calling plays himself. This just makes sense, maybe Saleh actually learned after these 4 years. Glenn has come to the same conclusion. They have same configuration as we do now, Bob calls defense, Daboll HC of the offense. Same as Glenn and Reich.
Woody. I wish he would just stop meddling. How hard is that? Sigh. It’s got his fingerprints all over it.
How would you possibly know this? You think Aaron Glenn is going to call plays? He can't even coach the team, he was a terrible DC. Yet again Glenn hires a unqualified coach.
What I mean is, how did he meddle in this case - Jets getting Duker? Seems like Glenn decided to call plays, same thing Bob decided for Tennessee and regretted not doing here, and quite a few people saying it was a good idea even before. Duker seems a consequence of that. That's why I don't get the meddling part here. He seems to be the only imbecile who trust Glenn in this case, instead of getting rid of him, which is the main problem - not the meddling in this case. But with Glenn staying, him calling plays is actually the best possible outcome to improve this defense.
