For starters, I couldn't give two shits if you block me or not. I won't miss trying to have a conversation that involves logic and analysis only to be met with emotional reactions and nothing but a personal ranking system to back it up. I would understand if you felt like blocking someone that challenges your opinion when you don't have much to support your opinion with.

Second... and now this involves logic so bear with me... the Lions defense the year before Glenn took over was dead last in every way. 32nd in points, 32nd in yards. He was supposed to turn that around in one year? That's not logical by any measure. So the awful year should have a lot of context provided which you absolutely hate. So what you can see from the numbers is Glenn took over the league-worst defense and within two years they were slightly above average, within three years they were top 5. That is backed up by a handful of stats, it's not my opinion. That's what happened.

Third... you're ready to credit a good offense before the defensive coordinator for that. That's without a doubt batshit crazy. And for a guy who says "95% of this board agrees with me" I've seen no one agree with you. Even the most emotional of posters can't find a way to validate your opinion there. Nor can you.

You have to look at this like the Detroit defense. He took over the worst defense in the league, which he's doing again. So to expect a massive jump isn't realistic. It took a few years of drafting on defense, bringing in FAs and installing the system for the defense to get to above average. Glenn has probably a 6-8 week window at best. That's setup for failure. The plan CAN work, that's already been proven. There's a real world sample size that says Glenn can coach up a defense from literal worst to above average. But the timeline is beyond wrong and I have massive doubts we're going to see the kind of improvement needed for him to save his job.

The pimply-faced high school loser making an awkward play for the head cheerleader comes off as less desperate than this franchise looks right now.

    Humiliating.

it does and it is BUT …..in the long run it’s good …. We all know how this ends and I suspect Woody already knows himself. AG either gets fired after this coming season or doesn’t even survive the season …

The Jets possibly bad enough to draft Manning and Woody finds an offensive minded coach (McDermott?) who sees three first round picks and/or a new QB to implement his own system …

I bet McDermott would love a chance to get back at the Bills organization after the way that situation ended….

In a strange way the Jets seem to be setting themselves up for 2027 …

We are setting up for a 2-15 season but the fear is there we will win 5 or 6 games and draft gets us no help at qb in 2027

    Who?

But I heard on the FAN on the drive home Coach A.G. will be the one calling the plays anyway.

He will, Glenn is essentially the DC which is probably for the best. Glenn is the most qualified of who we could get albeit not exciting. If he hands all aspects of the offense off (including clock, TOs, 4th downs etc) to Reich we could be competitive next season which I get isn't ideal since it will only prolong the firing and make the draft pick worse but he won't coach to lose obviously.

    I don't think it's bad what's happening.

It's a terrible look for Coach A.G. to fire just about his entire staff from year 1 no doubt about it BUT at least he had the guts to make the call and do what needed to be done despite how it would look.

All the more reason to not care. None of it is consequential. The defense will be better, maybe even average. But it doesn’t matter. Everyone is gone this time next year.

If nothing else I think a Glenn defense is going to make us lean Reese at 2

    A defensive passing coordinator...

    Taken from the official site

Duker has AG and AFC East connections over the past 11 seasons. His first NFL coaching gig was as a Cleveland defensive intern in 2015, where Glenn had just begun his coaching career as the Browns' assistant DBs coach. Both coached that one year on former Jets DC Mike Pettine's Browns staff.

Duker was a defensive assistant, then safeties coach, then DBs coach for Detroit under Glenn, then the Lions' defensive coordinator, from 2021-23. The past two seasons he was the defensive pass game coordinator/secondary coach for the Jets' AFC East rivals, the Dolphins.

All solid thoughts, but the Mannings would never allow him to come here. They would throw him out of a moving plane without a parachute before they did that.

MAYBE if Woody decides to roll the dice on McDermott, the Mannings might reconsider. Even if they don't, there' plenty other QB talent to choose from in '27 as opposed to Mendoza or nothing in ''26. Glenn's impending departure is assured as the schedule only gives a possible 3 wins max and no home wins in '26. Mougey should be putting feelers out right now and maybe do a backdoor deal like Kraft did with Vrabel.

Ask me if I like the idea about the real possibility that Mougey being competent is our only hope for the next 5 years. Actually, you don't have to ask me, I'll tell you - I don't like it. We're assuming an awful lot - including the unlikely possibility that Woody would allow him to be as Machiavellian as all that.
