what are you talking about? I'm not absolving Glenn. A better coach tells Woody Johnson to fuck off in that scenario
Agreed then Just sounds like all this shit going down, a complete clown show, and the observation is “I bet Woody made him do it”…that sounds like absolving this grown ass man with the HC title of owning his actions. To be fair, I also think Woody is involved at some level, but to me, that point is secondary. AG is the HC. He CHOSE Fields. He CHOSE all these asst coaches. He owns ALL of it. HE is now firing them all. I assume Woody is involved in discussions, just like Mougey had to be involved in signing Fields, but if you are the HC, you own ALL of it. All of these failures and bad hires lie at Glenn’s feet.
If I was AG I would love to get fired - get paid out your massive contract and no-one would really hold it against you in the future as you could just shrug and say "Jets, what are you gonna do eh?" and people would understand at this point I literally have no idea wth is going on anymore - if I didn't own a number of game used Jerseys and other stuff I would desperately try to switch teams at this point I am that sick of this franchise
I'm just being a pain, but Woody LITERALLY owns all of it. He should keep going with this firing thing.
Per Nania Jets had the 8th-highest wide-open target rate in the NFL (per FTN Fantasy), 1 spot ahead of McDaniel's Fins, 2 ahead of Detroit, 3 ahead of Ben Johnson's Bears. They were 29th in comp% on passes with 3+ yards of separation and 30th in drop rate. But sure, fire the Yr1 OC.
It's going to be Frank Reich with Carson Wentz and/or Andy Dalton ... with an eye on moving heaven and earth to get Manning in the draft next year.
That sounds like absolving Glenn to me…the comment is questioning AG’s decisions vs. the owner making him do it. Wasn’t there also an earlier conversation where I was blaming Glenn for signing Fields and you had said that maybe Mougey was the one who did that? If that wasn’t you, then I apologize. Those kinds of comments sounds like absolving the HC of these decisions…making it seem like maybe they were put upon him and may not have been what he really wanted. And look, you’re actually right in the sense that (I would hope at least) that these decisions are discussed and vetted with the GM and the owner, and that it’s not just AG doing what he wants to do willy nilly with no input or anything from the front office and owner. But to me, the buck starts and stops with the HC. These decisions were made. Glenn owns them all.
I'm not gonna bother with this one. I'll talk with the adults in the room and maybe you can derive an answer to your useless question from that. The word "influence" was used. Swaying a decision. Something Woody Johnson has been doing for going on two decades. Why is it insane to act like Woody, who just let the guy keep his job after a historically bad season, would feel like he's entitled to his opinion being heavily considered? Bottom line is we have no idea what happened but my entire premise is that the guy who has been doing things for a long time could very well be doing them again. I definitely didn't pin Fields on Mougey, but you also value that whole thing WAY more than you should because Fields was not signed to be the answer (we know this based off the contract), he was a dart throw that failed. Sure it's on Glenn but to pretend like that was backbreaking is absurd. So no, not absolving him at all but definitely put far less stock into it than you do.
