I'm still amazed that he was able to sell himself as that considering that it took him a full 6 years to even get just a mediocre O-line on the field.
I don’t really care the turmoil it would’ve caused, I would’ve fired Ulbrich within an hour after hearing how much he jerked Reddick off for being a team leader and unselfish player the other day.
Your not buying the theory that Reddick has been putting out some very well hidden production all this time and regular fans like us just don't see it? He's been close to invisible for me. And I try to focus on him a decent amount of the time.
He did go out into pass coverage at least once versus Buffalo and did a pretty good job with it. Maybe we all missed out on the 4D chess that Douglas and Ulbrich have been playing all along. Maybe Reddick wasn't brought in to rush the passer, but rather to play in coverage to make up for Sauce's poor performance this season. But, for what they're paying him to do (i.e. sacking the QB) he's been one of the all-time worst non-QB signings/trades in league history.

Everybody blaming Woody for the dysfunction should consider that he let those two fools run the ship a ground... both should have been fired two years ago and while Woody was instrumental in getting AR, he was right in his criticism of him early on in spite of what both those idiots inferred..i.e., can not bench an x-MVP. This team has some talent but JD was MIA for the last two years... F him, F RS and F Brick. They all suck...
Saleh and Ulbrich are both mindless drones. Platitudes, slogans, zero accountability. It's like they both read the same shitty book about how an NFL HC should act and refuse to deviate from it. Both have been completely incapable of making adjustments in light of new information. It's especially funny with Saleh because leadership was supposedly one of his strong suits, yet he was the complete antithesis of a leader. He was a complete pushover who refused to put his foot down time and time again to the detriment of the team. It reminds me of how JD was supposedly an OL guru yet couldn't build an OL to save his life. The fact that both our HC and GM were so bad at the things they were supposedly good at speaks to just how clueless Woody and co are when trying to hire qualified leadership. They are unable to assess things deeper than face value. It must be so nice working for Woody. You can basically convince him of anything. He has zero innate skepticism or ability to think outside of established narratives.
Just saw the pro-bowl rosters - Jets have a few "alternates" but not one player on the pro-bowl roster - so much for this being the most talented Jets team of all time) considering last year we had 3 and 4 the year before I believe despite similarly dismal records.
I've agreed with these sentiments for 2 seasons. Douglas was horrible. I can't believe Jets ownership allowed these clowns to "swing big" with AR. They already demonstrated their incompetence leading up to that acquisition.

Sorry to bring back this post. But I think instead of debating about Glenn and if he should be coaching this year or not... The real issue we should be debating is whether Joe Douglas is the worst GM in NFL history. All of the Jets' current issues are because of this man, and he should get more criticizm then he does, especially leading up to SB week, when we will hear different narratives about Sam Darnold. Since 2020, the Jets' demise is strictly on this loser's shoulders.
^ Douglas was absolute dogshit garbage. I remember so many posters here being so enamored with this guy like he was Bill Walsh or something. He couldn't spot a stud if it kicked him between the teeth. He was really a back office guy who never, ever shoulda been a GM. And definitely not a GM in the biggest market in the country as his first try. It was destined to fail from the start. Anyways, can we please move on to current Jets stuff and stop reminiscing about all of their shitty moves of the past. It's beyond depressing and pointless to go backwards.
He certainly has a claim to it though. I do not recall too many others who gave historically worst supporting cast to a young QB, then traded him away, to see that QB later lead his team to a SB and be in the MVP conversation as a young guy. All while JD compiled 30-64 record as a GM. He is definitely in the conversation for one of the most damaging GMs in Jets history.
He was bad. No question. But, he did put together a team that was decent enough in one year to be in the conversation in December for the playoffs before it fell apart. He also didn't miss on an entire draft. Idzik went 0-12 in that draft. Most teams don't get that many picks in a draft to begin with. And he missed on every single one of them. What is clear, though, is that this run from the end of arrival of Idzik until now has been the worst stretch of GM performance in the franchise.
Izdik is in the conversation as well. But having a 22 year old top QB prospect already on the roster drafted by someone else for you, surrounding him with the supporting cast of WR1, RB1, TE1, who literally went on to get 306 yards combined for the rest of their careers, plus shit OL, then trading him away, and seeing that QB later become MVP candidate and lead his team to the SB is next level shit. All while compiling the worst Jets GM record in the history of the team. JD is ABSOLUTELY a contender for the worst GM ever.
If we're talking worst ever, then I think it's an open and shut case for Matt Millen. Idzik is the worst in Jets history for my money. Douglas is a bottom 3 GM for the Jets along with Maccagnan.
Mac has to be ahead just because he drafted SB QB, just that alone. It's JD and Izdik battling it out IMO. I am leaning JD because of the damage done.
