https://x.com/i/status/2013254729200001520 The #Bills are moving on from coach Sean McDermott after their loss in the divisional round to the #Broncos, per The Insiders.
Now there's another DC coaching opportunity that will be available, I suppose we will just have to wait till after everyone is hired and collect the scraps or just go with the only guy that has no other opportunities in Wink. Can we hire McDermott please lol. There is some weird rumors about Joe Brady coming to the Jets as HC but that was before this firing. I could see Tomlin taking the Buffalo job but that would be trading a coach that couldn't break through recently for the same thing in Tomlin.
I'm deeply saddened by the Patriots going back to the Super Bowl again and the fact Coach A.G. is still my team's head coach. And they haven't made a move to hire Coach McDermott.
3 years without the playoffs and the Pats are back in the Superbowl meanwhile the Jets are the Jets and are multiple years away from even having a winning season (if they ever manage one again)
The really sad part is to think about what has happened with the Patriots/Brady/Belichick since the Jets last went to the playoffs: Won 3 Super Bowls Lost 2 Super Bowls Brady left and won another Super Bowl Signed Newton as a bridge QB Drafted a potential franchise QB (Jones) Parted ways with Belichick Hired Mayo Drafted another potential franchise QB (Maye) Fired Mayo Brady retires, buys a part of the Raiders, and becomes the #1 commentator on FOX Hired Vrabel Completed the rebuild and made the playoffs in 2025 Appearing in the upcoming Super Bowl All of that since we had our last opportunity to even dream about reaching the Super Bowl. Meanwhile, we're in the middle of our, what, 45th rebuild attempt since then? Unreal. The New York Jets are a pathetic sports franchise.
Look at this at 43min. Connor explaining how much worse this job is now compared to just one year ago perfectly illustrates the cancer Glenn has been on this team in just one year. https://www.youtube.com/live/esGwZwdufO4?si=T_yj_ECHervSCr4t If you say "Fuck Connor, he doesn't know anything" here is a clip of Boomer talking about Reich and how great Conners's sources in the building are. https://x.com/i/status/2015824554262671554
https://x.com/i/status/2016129054311645472 "Wrong and very WRONG. This is the exact opposite way to do an NFL HC search these days. H/T @RichCimini and @JakeAsman —Most things pre-2012 is useless. —X’s and Os have launched to the moon (in importance) significantly." Some insight on how the 33rd team did its search, emphasizing leadership over Xs and Os in a league dominated by young smart coaches that are all X and O based guys.
Not to mention if Harris gets the nod and Glenn calls the plays on D then why did they fire the entire defensive staff? I thought it was normal if you were bringing Wink in but now it seems insane.
What a typical Jets move this would be. Right up there with not focusing on the ability to strategize when looking to hire someone to be the chief person in charge of football strategy for the team. It's not too late for the Jets to hire ChatGPT to lead the franchise. For probably a singular monthly fee, it could be the GM, HC, OC, and DC all at once.
I'm just perpetually stunned by stuff like this. I can't understand how a football consulting firm and a guy who has owned an NFL team for 30 years can have so little clue about what wins in today's NFL.
There's no incentive to put in the effort to win. Woody bought the team for $635 million. It's currently worth $9.1 billion. And that's with the results that we've had. It means there's zero incentive to put a winning product out on the field, other than to avoid embarrassment, which I get the feeling people with that kind of money are pretty much immune to.
That makes sense for the Bills. You fire the previous HC because he and his staff can't get you over the hump and into the Super Bowl. You fix this by hiring someone else from that same staff. No wonder the Patriots have run circles around this division for decades now.
That's a good move for them, he is the coach I wanted to interview as well and we could have had him last year. Just looking at our games against the Bills, he shitted all over Glenn schematically, even more so than anyone else, perhaps aside from Coen. Plus in the last game against Philly and in play-offs, they were in position to win offensively from the scheme perspective. Some of the TDs Trubisky threw against us were wide ass open too. He would have beaten us by 20+ with Brady Cook as well, just by Xs and Os. It's a good hire for them, which sucks for us. This is where I would warn be careful what you wish for. Offense design was not an issue in Buffalo. If Brady can get a good DC, it could suck for us even worse than it does now.
