Getting a top pick doesn't;t guarantee a top QB
    Jaken Hurts 2nd round
    Brock Purdy 7th round
    Dak Prescott 4th round
    Jordan Love 26th overall
    Lamar Jackson 32nd overall
    Josh Allen 7th overall
    Bo Nix 12th overall
It's not only the QB. Do we have a coaching system that can develop the QB and build a system that promotes his strengths to be successful. Such as Sam Darnold and Geno Smith

Gene Hackman gave him a shot. Didn’t work out. Being an Ohio State washout QB only gets you through two movie scripts before it’s time to move on.

Every year, there are over six times as many non-first round picks as there are first round picks. Given all the non-QBs who get taken with those later picks, that's a disappointing list, especially since one of the only two elite QBs on it was still a top 10 pick.

Seeing people making an argument that keeping Glenn as HC is the right move because it could get worse, I think we should just apply that logic the Justin Fields and name him our starter now before it gets worse at QB.

    Hehehe

Had a good chuckle on your post!

A guy “like” Stidham or Brissett or Mack Jones (wow all former pats…) is as a bridge guy. Someone you can trot out there to feed to the wolves next year under Glenn. Low cost, low risk and won’t set us up for the next CS/FO to be tied to him.

What I don’t want is for them to panic and trade for a Kyler Murray or Tua type player. Or if they get cut to sign them to a massive 4 year deal and eat up a bunch of cap space.

Stack the D in this draft to give Glenn a shot to prove himself as a capable defensive HC. If he fails then at least the job to the next staff will look attractive with 3 first round picks

Yeah…this may be the best possible hope…I FOR SURE don’t want Murray…no need for lazy entitled guys on a team that has already shown a lack of motivation…he would be the worst possible personality for this team. He can not elevate anything…he’s already proven that in AZ, no need to try again. Would also hate Tua…too injury prone and honestly the dude should retire for his own health.

I hate Mac Jones and think he would suck with our coaching staff, and I say that before even knowing what our coaching staff will turn out to be…but he is fools gold there…Shanahan has made plenty of mediocre QBs look way better than they are and it doesn’t tend to stick once they leave that team…Brissett is fine but man talk about unexciting. Same for Stidham. None of those guys are bringing wins, but also they are not bringing anything promising or exciting to entice fans, and I think Woody thinks about that. That kind of thinking is how we ended up with Tebow and Rodgers…

Will be interesting to see how it all pans out, but I have NEVER been as down on the Jets as I am now. And I’ve been watching since the 1970’s…I have no hope with Woody in charge. None.

I hear ya man. Ultimately, next year has to be an epic tank job. If woody wants to sell something to us I want #1 overall! The colts to get destroyed next year for #2 overall and we draft Manning and Jeremiah Smith. Hire Tomlin and LFG!

    I can dream can’t I? lol

Geezus, I wasn't even thinking this. Now I'm absolutely convinced it's exactly what's going to happen.

We've all lived through horrible seasons. This one just feels. . . horribler.

I'm telling you folks a hard cold truth. There is a Z-E-R-O scenario Arch Manning lands on the Green. 1st pick in the draft or not. I can GUARANTEE you there will be a plan to make sure he does NOT land on Woody Johnson's team. Of all the things in this world you can take to the bank, this one of those.

    Yeah i agree

That family has the history and the clout to finagle the system. Peyton went back to school, Eli forced a trade….there is no way they let Arch end up here

Much to the contrary, the number of QBs selected in the later meaningful rounds is relatively small compared to those selected in the first round so to me that rational is backwards.

As much as I dislike Woody, I really couldn’t give a rats ass what the whining Mannings decide to do. Overrated bunch.

At this point, I'll take a "whiney" Manning if it means winning. That is ALL I care about, WINNING, and it frustrates the hell out of me that there are players, coming into the league and who are already in the league, avoiding this team like the plague. JSMH

That's not the case. There are tons of quarterbacks who get drafted in later rounds, the media just doesn't cover them. https://www.drafthistory.com/index.php/positions/qb

Agree completely. Thats my view. If he wants to play for the Jets fine, if not screw him. So far he has not shown much except the name.

They just suck almost exclusively. The League has gotten better identifying QB talent and picking them in round one or top round two. The only good starter outside of this range is Purdy. And of course Pro Bowl QB Sanders. lol

But I would not burn a pick on a mid round QB, there is almost no chance for an upside.

Peace. Again that is not my point. The pool is small. there are not a ton of QB like you said over 7 rounds. Normally 10-12 over a population of 260 say, or 4%, with those in the late rounds being a cheap experiment never to be considered starters. On a good QB year about 5 go in the first round and in a bad year may be 2. Of those in a first round I’m guessing about one third don't make it with the team that drafted them, may be more. It’s super tough with QBs. So that list of successes is not all that disappointing as even in the first round is a crap shoot with a high failure rate and gets exponentially worst on mid rounds, and of course you can discard rounds 6-7 being basically miracles garbage time for practice squad except for a one in a lifetime Brady that is better than any first rounder ever.
In any event, even picking the right QB with the wrong CS to develop him is a mess and we have quite a history in that regard. My confidence is so low right now.
