The Jets did not step on the field today and yet whether any of you admit or not - this was an utter gut punch to any true Jets fan. The Pats are back in the SB after firing Belicheat and Sam Darnold throws for almost 400 yards and is in the SB also…
After Sam was basically hazed by the Patriots in his first three years as a pro I can only imagine how good the revenge will feel when he dashes their hopes on the biggest stage. Go Sam!
With a coach who apparently we loved and likes us, but we let him out of the building without offering him full control.
The Jets deserve this humiliation. Their arch rivals complete a rebuild so quickly it would make you head spin and the QB that wasn't good enough for the Jets has the best game of his career and is headed to the Super Bowl. Embrace the tank. 0-17 and let's finally get our QB and offensive minded HC and new GM. If this isn't a wakeup call for the Jets to finally take this seriously and get this franchise moving in the right direction, nothing will.
You’re missing the point. You’re trying to overlay the entire scenario without factoring in that the Seahawks started that last drive at their own 6. If the Rams kick the FG they get the ball at their 25 in a worst case scenario. If you overlay the exact drive they had over that, they’re in easy field goal range and the Rams still need a TD regardless. Going for it was the right call. I’ll die on that hill lol.
Sam Darnold, the only QB from the 2018 QB class to make it to the SB. The only other QB drafted by the Jets to do so while i'm at it. WTF with Gronkcheatski. He looks like a crazy homeless guy with that hat. I expect to see him on the Subway.
Well ... we drafted the best QB in the league. Too bad our "offensive line guru" couldn't put anyone in front of him worth a damn, so now he's taking Seattle to the Super Bowl.
I really liked Baker at the time but given that he went off with the first pick Sam was the next one on my list. With that said staying put and getting Nelson at guard for a decade would not have been a bad outcome.
I was laughing at each play Sam made while throwing on the move. Not to say he'd be as effective as he is now 7 years in the league, but if I had a dime for every time Jets fans here on the forum and during the game threads seeing Gase et al. trying to shoe horn him as a Peyton Manning'esque pocket passer behind one of the worst offensive lines in the league kept calling for the Jets to let Sam play to his youngest strengths - throwing while on the move, rolling him out, etc., I'd be as wealthy as Woody. Crazy concept tailoring an offense to the strongest talents of your most important offensive player.
Clearly, getting rid of Mike McCaganan was a HUGE mistake as was hiring Adam Gase. That's where we blew it.
100%. I was walking on a cloud when the Jets drafted Sam. I was delusional enough to think that our misery in a few years would be over. When it became obvious that it wasn't working out I was NOT saying - or even THINKING - by any stretch - that Darnold sucks. What I DID say and think was, "Oh, my God, they've ruined him. Never fear, if he's not completely ruined, he'll no doubt become what he was supposed to be here somewhere else." And here we are. It's so fckn Jets it writes itself, so it's not like I'm patting myself on the back so hard that I need a body cast for my spot on "prediction". Even Miss Cleo would have gotten this right. I for one am extremely happy for Sam. It's an underdog story, which ya gotta love. Not gonna lie, I am also living vicariously through his fck you to the Jets. He was graceful enough to always take the high road. He doesn't have to bad mouth the organization. He's going to the Super Bowl. Joe Douglas, if I ever see that guy. What he pulled off with Jamalmouth (with the Seahawks, lol) doesn't come near canceling out this epic blunder. Edit: A word.
yikes we needed the Rams to win that game. Patriots can beat Seattle. Gonzalez tails Smith-Njijba all game and shuts the offense down. Seattle's strengths in stopping the run and special teams are kinda irrelevant against the Pats who dont run it well and have an equally good special teams Rams with Nacua & Adams and their two edge rushers woulda beaten NE I'm sure. Now, who the hell knows
This post, I can already feel the chunks rising. Let's hope Sam Darnold bests the best game of his career.
Agreed. If not for a muffed punt return the Rams win. The Patriots are underdogs which they prefer and the pressure is on Sam. You summed up it up, I’ll only add Maye has huge big play ability he has yet to unleash due to crappy weather conditions he will not have to deal with.
Let's hope. I want Seattle to win badly. Something about Vrabel rubs me the wrong way. He just looks like a jerk.
