Does Darren Mougey have any connection to McCarthy?

Mougey has only been apart of the Broncos so I don't think so

This FO/CS needs to have a Plan B developed and ready to implement just in case there's no QB they want at 3. They cannot reach for the sake of drafting a QB. Someone (Mougey) has to be thinking big picture here. I suspect Mougey has enough smarts to be able to pivot if he needs to for better options.

Sign Willis to a similar Fields type contract.
Stay at 3 vs trading picks, if Mendoza falls, take him.
Otherwise look to draft Simpson at #18 or Mateer in 2nd/3rd. Moore is gonna get hype status, but when you watch full games, the luster falls off some. Huge upside though.

Totally agree on Sherwood. A smaller college safety playing MLB in the NFL ??? Way too small and too light to even play LB in college, so why play him there in the pros?
Joe Douglas dreamed of Sherwood & another of Douglas' college safeties draftees playing LB on the jets.
What part of Moogey and Glenn's contracts require them to sign and play Joe Douglas' dream of an undersized skinny scarecrow college safety at LB in the NFL?
Part of the worst defense probably ever for the NY Jets.

My opinion only, but the jets must draft a day 1 or 2 QB in 2026. The jets CANNOT go into 2026 telling their season ticket holders basically "We will suck this year (2026), but NEXT year (2027) we'll draft a QB early, and he might be ready by 2028!"
Moogey HAS to give the fan base some hope that he will try to address QB in free agency AND and the draft in 2026.
IMO the jets should jettison ALL 3 of their 2025 QBS--Fields, Taylor and Cook, who is not an NFL QB. They gotta sign a veteran QB , draft a QB on day 1 or 2 in 2026, and then get a 3rd stringer like Hooker or some other low budget guy as QB3.

Letting the fans determine strategy is a sure path to failure. Of course, letting Woody do it is even more certain.

I look at the QB prospects in this draft and I don't see anything to get remotely excited about. The smart move would be to bring in a veteran QB, through Free Agency or even via trade, but keep them on a short term deal. Use this draft and the '26 season to establish SOME sort of solid foundation so that when the rookie QB comes in in '27, they have SOMETHING here to build on and aren't asked to be a miracle worker from day 1.

But this fanbase wants to tank and fire their way to a Championship.

We’ve proven totally incapable of executing the strategy you’ve laid out for the entire history of the New York Jets franchise. We’re just coming off two seasons with a first-ballot HOF veteran quarterback and failed to build any sort of foundation - leaving us with the roster we have now.

A season of Kirk Cousins and 22-year old defensive backs doesn’t fill an empty stadium. You know what the plan is going to be.

The Jets Front Office better have 67 backup plans in place if Mendoza isn't there at 3. Guess what? He won't be! Moving on from that captain obvious fact now. The Jets should NOT take a QB at 3. No way and no how. It's Mendoza or move on and address QB in Free Agency. Malik Willis and Huntley both looked very poised and impressive in recent starts that I watched. They both have this very good pocket presence. When was the last time we could even say we had a QB with good pocket presence? Maybe 10 yrs ago with Fitz? Both of those QB's should be major targets for them. They impressed me a lot with their poise and decision making. It helps to be in good programs too with good QB's that they learned under and it definitely shows. I honest;y havdn't even given either of them much thought previously but they're both promising stopgaps with upside for more.

With the amount of draft capital and cap space these next 2 seasons 2026 and 2027, Mougey and staff can literally remake the roster at the most important positions, or at least several of them.

We MUST have good talent evaluators in the room and scouts in the field for this draft. I've only said this here 1,000 times. The Jets NEED to start drafting the top college players from the top college programs. They should be watching and be at every major bowl and playoff game. These guys are the future NFL stars. The Eagles, Bears, Pats, and others are drafting these studs. The Jets have a really bad habit of passing on college studs for these weird "upside" picks that almost never pan out. Stop getting cute and overthinking it is my best advice to them. Get the stud from the power school and start stockpiling roster talent.

They're missing the boat while every other franchise is getting wayy better. Draft the top guys from the top colleges. That's a rule they need to start living by and no more picks from Western Bumfuck State. I've watched this closely with them for at least the last 5 drafts, They don't target enough guys on their board earlier enough from the best programs who have played the best comp.

This needs to change with this draft or this franchise will never change.

I would say that this draft might be the Jets' best chance of climbing out of the NFL sewer. In fact, it might be their last chance to save the franchise from oblivion. They fuck this up?, and Woody should get used to seeing opposing fans outnumber jet fans at MetLife 2:1. I know he probably DGAF if that happens, but it certainly will happen and the optics will engrave "Same Ole Jets" into their tombstone.

They are going to waste those draft picks, thus dooming this franchise for another decade, unless they get someone in here who actually knows what they're doing.

Currently, we have someone in charge who actually found four things that this team has "improved" on from the last couple of years. Those things are:
    • The Running Game: yeah, it's better, statistically. The reason it's better statistically is that the passing game is so bad that they have to just run the ball in order to gain any yardage.
    • Penalties:
    • Special Teams: this one I'll give him. The special teams have been fantastic
    • Field Goal Team: One of the main positives that was given by our head coach that we have shown improvement on is that we haven't had a FG get blocked this year. I think this all but guarantees that Buffalo blocks a FG on Sunday.
If this is what we're pointing to as improvement for an NFL football team, there's no point of hoping that they are going to use the draft picks in a way that will fix any of this. This situation couldn't be fixed the NFL literally gave us all of the 1st round draft picks to use.

That presser was damning, grasping at straws to find anything positive whatsoever from the season. He said his "brand" was best displayed in a game we got the doors blown off and when asked about things that were positive he mentioned 50% were special teams lol, can't make this stuff up.
