And the sad irony of this whole thing? If Glenn ever did get fired after only one season (which I'm on record as saying I highly doubt that he will) the Jets most likely won't get a proven commodity (which at this point they need more than ever!) and this shit-disturbed merry go-round of a franchise will move onto its next installment. Change for the sake of change isn't a plan, it's a cry for help. That's where this franchise is at. They literally have no plan or blueprint. Now if you have a plan for upgrading to a better, proven coach then that's a different story. However that's not how the Jets operate. We need a real football guy in the building so bad. Like paramount.
How about McCarthy? That's almost identical situation actually to what NE had with Mayo/Vrabel. Why not give it a shot for 2026?
My plan involves Johnson, Epstein files (or equivalent) and prison. THEN the NFL will force the useless Johnson family to sell. Then and ONLY THEN will the Jets be on a path to respectability. Let's face it, we can talk all day long, every day about coaches, coaching changes, yada yada yada. Until Johnson is no longer a factor, this is all academic. Outside that, I got nothing. As long as the Johnson family owns this team the future looks bleak.
Like I said I’d hesitate making him a DB coach on my high school team. I’d only do because he played DB in the NFL and teenagers would gravitate to that. This man is in waaaaaay over his head at head coach
Can we put this to bed.... There's been no discussions about firing the HC. Conversations have been mostly about the QB position and the infrastructure around the QB https://www.si.com/nfl/sean-mcvay-approaching-week-18-differently-this-year#_w98dbrwax
Need to move on from this Jan 6th style assault of AG. It's not happening as much as some of you are blood lusting for it. Time to focus on the real matter at hand: Roster construction and most importantly, THE QB. If Mougey is smart, they can literally makeover this whole team in 2 seasons. Golden opportunity.
I think the whole board will pivot next week once the inevitable sets in. Some will leave, some will come back, the Glenn talk will turn to apathetic hopelessness instead of calling for his head. Glenn will likely be gone halfway through or after next season so I hope we don't take a QB but he will out of desperation to save his job.
Sounds about right. The only part I disagree on is I don't think they'll jump on a QB at 2 or 3 or wherever they pick. That guy would most likely be Dante Moore or bust. Meaning I don't think they'd even look at any other QB besides Moore with Mendoza already gone obviously. I want to see how Moore does against Texas Tech tomorrow but regardless, I am always leery of guys who aren't the traditional big armed, big bodied 225+ lb QB's. I've watched him play and I still have serious doubts that he's an NFL franchise QB. Rather, the Jets should build the rest of the roster and get a veteran QB in free agency. I think that's a lot more likely if Glenn wants to save his job next season versus expecting a rookie QB to turn it around in Year 1 which rarely happens. QB is too important to just waste such a high valuable pick on if he's not a super polished prospect like Mendoza.
If we lose out on the top guys I don't hate the idea of a Malik Willis as a bridge, I am pretty confident we will trade up though for one of the top 2 if Moore comes out. All speculation for a couple of months.
Agreed. Roster Re-construction is more acute. If the QB we want is gone by 3? Trade back, stockpile picks and rebuild the talent as much as possible on both sides of the ball. We can hunt our new FQB in '27 with a much wider choice available too then finish off the roster rebuild. By '28, we should be relevant again.
I really wish this is the case, I just don't see a world where we don't draft a QB early even if it's a reach or over draft. Desperate staffs make desperate moves and even though we mostly agree Glenn won't be fired I don't think a single member thinks he's definitely safe beyond 2026. He can't afford to build the roster and wait on a QB, if he goes 2-4 next year which is likely I would be shocked if he's not let go then much less end of the season.
We can only hope Mougey carries more weight with Woody than Glenn does. At this point, knowing how much Woody pays attention to PR and public sentiment (not to mention empty seats/abandoned stadiums), this just might be the change we need in the Org. Chart.
https://x.com/i/status/2006032899594735860 Worst one and done coach in NFL history. After each of these one and done coaches the coach that followed them took them to the playoffs. It's not a bad thing to get rid of a bad coach after one season.
Hilarious that we're going to be the one team that doesn't fire a coach this bad and we still have people around here saying our problem is we fire coaches too quickly.
In quarters 1-3 this year, we were 32nd in the league in touchdowns scored and 32nd in touchdowns allowed.
No, not yet. I think if there will be any discussions it will be on Sunday, and SI won't know about it. This is above any of their sources, it's basically Woody, Chris, maybe 1 or 2 more. Crazy to think about, it really is...
