These are not anecdotal, that's all from 1 game, last game against ranked opponent, that's the all 22 I found, I shared every play. He has fast processor, that's why time to throw is good. Watch others too, he has not more 1st read throws than them, just processes a bit faster. It's a good thing, can't turn that into negative.
Many people were wrong on Zach. This is not exact science, QBs are very hard to evaluate. Were you right every time? Was anyone? But what I am trying to do is learn from Zach and Fields mistakes. Focus on processing more, anticipation, which was their weakness. From what I can see Moore is a different player from these guys. If you dismiss any points from someone who was wrong on a QB before, there is literally no one left. But, watch the tape for yourself. I am just calling what I see while taking lessons learned from past mistakes. And yeah, I could certainly be wrong, but again watch for yourself.
I was staunchly against drafting Zach, I remember some of our hard fought arguments leading to that draft. You are correct here though, Moore is a much better prospect than Zach. It’s not even debatable.
I only remember @legler82 who was against Zach and Fields at the same time. I forced him by asking him "Between Zach and Fields who would you take?" His answer was something like "I wouldn't take either but if I have to chose one, I would go with Fields". Wish legler was around to share his opinion on these QB's really.
Kudos to you on Zach, and don't remember whom you wanted in that draft, but I am sure everyone made their share of mistakes when it comes to QB evaluation. But I am surprised why Moore is even compared Zach and Fields. Probably because we had these guys and they failed, but Moore is very different, and is on the completely opposite side of the spectrum than these guys when it comes to things like anticipation and processing. Doesn't mean he cannot fail, but a different type of prospect. Like one concerning thing is number of starts. Stepping into the pocket is another thing to look at. But definitely different evaluation from Zach and Fields. No @legler82 was a HUGE Fields supporter at the time. Really wanted him. Anti Zach - yes, but VERY pro Fields. Like I said though, this is not exact science. Both of these guys went pretty high in the draft and even Shanahan wanted Zach badly, then got Lance, who is even worse. Definitely would love to know what he thinks now as what everyone else thinks as well.
Ehhh, Legler very much wanted Fields. https://forums.theganggreen.com/threads/mike-white-contract-2022.96499/page-12#post-4144126 Anyway, we were all wrong. I wanted Wilson and was completely wrong too. Nobody got that draft right other than the people who said we shouldn't take either guy.
There were some people who wanted to keep Sam. That was the right move. But then again, with JD in charge, would anything be different? Sam needed Shanahan to recover from the damage JD and others inflicted on him, not more JD and the shit of OL he put together. There was really no right solution at that time. Something we may be facing again if Glenn stays.
I checked the link you provided. It is from November 2021. When I asked him the question it was close to draft. His opinion might have changed in the process. Let me try to look but now sure if I can find it. Your help is appreciated.
If Sam stayed, he would work with MLF. I think MLF might do him good and our drama would be behind us. Saleh defenses were always good. If MLF turned Sam around we would have ended our playoff drought by now I believe.
He very clearly states "Everyone knows I wanted Fields." Paste tense means before the draft. I remember having debates with Legler about Fields vs. Wilson and he was always clearly on team Fields. There were very few who wanted neither, notably @ouchy so hat tip to him there.
It certainly would have been better than Zach we can agree on that. But with JD and shit OL I just don't know if it would have worked. He was ruined pretty badly at that time, it took Shanahan to fix him and then KOC. Not sure if MILF could have done it without the OL to protect. You really need two important things, it's pretty simple. A good offensive coach and a good GM to give the right talent. Even if MILF were the right coach, with JD there and garbage OL, and given Sam was already seeing ghosts from before, I think he needed more. If JD were any good I agree it could have worked though with MILF. It's too bad JD was the most damaging GM in Jets history.
Okay my friend. I believe you. Either my memory is playing me games after a rough night in AC or legler gave me a response that wasn't in line with what he responded to you. Okay. If ocuhy was against both, I need to read what he thinks about this years QB's
He definitely wanted Fields before the draft, no doubt. Here is one from right before the draft saying he was hoping for Fields: https://forums.theganggreen.com/threads/panthers-trade-for-darnold.95536/page-2#post-4068702 Not that there is anything wrong with it, we were all wrong at one point or the other about QB evaluation. Perhaps even @ouchy , though I did nominate him for the Jets GM job back in the day and still stand by it!
