Did you read any of the article full of front office leaks about his lazy behavior? Below is an excerpt.
Jets are not in a position to snub Lamar Jackson who is an 28 year old former MVP. Geez. Some talk as if we are dominating the league past 15 years and can be picky.
This Lamar talk has a bit of the Watson type vibe before all the rub/tug allegations. Point being when there is smoke there is fire. I’m not giving the Ravens 3 1st round picks for Lamar. Coming off a year he looks like a shell of his dynamic MVP type play. He’s not a pocket passer that can last till 40. His ability to run and make plays with his feet is what made him incredible to watch. That has dwindled severely this season. I feel the ravens know he’s breaking down and it’s time to sell to a QB needy team like the Jets, Browns, Miami or Raiders so they have started putting breadcrumbs out there in the media.
thanks I did miss that. Kinda seems like bullshit though to be honest. Video games are their issue with the best QB in the league? Shit you got guys out at the titty bars til 4 AM or beating their wives and stuff and Lamar Jackson stays at home playing video games, id say they are pretty lucky.
What does it say if one of the best organizations in football wants to part ways with him though? Lamar’s longevity also has a different cap on it as opposed to QBs who play from the pocket. He’s also never avoided big hits in his career. Amazingly, he’s never had a massive injury or concussion problems from them, but the hits are adding up to a lot of nagging injuries.
I don’t believe they want to part ways with him. They gave him a massive extension, that would indicate they want to keep him
Personally I’d go for the route of a guy like Willis while still drafting a QB. We need “our guy” and Willis is a nice bridge while we develop a QB. Lamar Jackson worries me, something is just off with him lately and he is constantly injured. It’s so much money and picks to bring him here. Same with Burrow.
I'm reminded of how hesitant the Ravens were to give Lamar his big contract. They were *this* close to letting him walk a few years back.
Pretty confident he leaves, I don't think it would cost half of what Burrow would. Jackson is a runner, shorter shelf life.
Nobody is "snubbing" Lamar. The fundamental problem with this take, that a lot of Jets fan can never seem to get past, is there is no actual reality where the New York Jets ever get the Baltimore Ravens version of production out of Lamar Jackson. Not with the coaching staffs and within the offenses we've run over the past half decade. Heck, Lamar Jackson as a legit NFL QB probably never even happens *here* imo. And it sure as heck isn't going to ever happen after entering his decline years and leaving the comforts of one of the better run/coached organizations in the NFL to join on to one of the worst. It's the same thing with some of you guys looking over at what Qbs like Tyler Huntley or Malik Willis are doing elsewhere now, and then simply disassociating them from the great systems propping them up that they wouldn't have here. You want to generally know what a guy like Huntley or Willis looks like *here* and as a New York Jet? Well we already just got a pretty good preview of what that looks like with the absolute worst version of Justin Fields we just spit out. Without that disassociation there is literally zero reason to believe those guys would be any better here.
I think the fans here are delusional if they think this org can take a guy on his decline, leaving a top organization thats is willing to give up on him for the future, and make it successful for us. There is no upside, and to say he is better than everything we have does not mean crap. This to me smells an awful lot like the Deshaun Jackson fiasco in spades, as someone pointed out, massively overpaying for nothing. Good organizations do not let go of their stars unless there are some serious underlying issues, be it performance or attitude towards the game, something this organization couldn’t possible overcome. Time to get real. Draft the right QB for a freaking change and develop him properly.
