Glenn has sucked so far, but let's see if he learns and comes back better next year. That's the best we can do right now: be patient. But that's the life of a Jet fan. Just wait until next season!
Not yet. Let's get blown out twice more and then see what Woody does. 99% chance you are correct, but while there is still 1% chance Woody will fire Glenn, I will not let go of the rope.
No, they both report to Woody, though Woody did refer to Mooge as Glenn's sidekick when he just hired them. He may not be a sidekick now and an equal after he did some really good things while Glenn sucked, I am not sure, but still, it's only Woody who can get rid of Glenn.
Other than some head-scrtaching day 3 picks, Mougey has looked really solid. If Glenn continues to go off the rails next year, as it stands now anyway, I'd keep Mougey and let him pick a HC
I know I’ve said it repeatedly… but if there was ever a time to do a real rebuild, and Lure a coach here..:: it’s when you have all these picks. Bring Glenn back , and have the stadium booing and empty by week 2 next year is just ridiculous
This, why would he want to bring Glenn back to a situation that he will be universally scrutinized constantly and ripped to shreds for every mistake when you can bring in an offensive coach with experience that can utilize the picks and cap to truly build a team we can be excited about.
Even on day 3, what is the expected hit rate? We got the following players: WR Arian Smith (#110), DB Malachi Moore (#130), LB Francisco Mauigoa (#162), and DE Tyler Baron (#176) Moore and Mauigoa don't look bad and play a lot. Smith disappointed so far, but still I don't think the jury is quite out on him yet. He did show some good separation numbers earlier, and even now when I watch film I do see that he separates. Even had a cool ST hit last Sunday. Baron has done nothing. Still though, is the expectation for ALL day 3 picks to play right away? I would say 2 out of 4 contributors in year one is not terrible. Overall I agree though, yes he should stay and lead the HC search this January.
The thing is, When Glenn fired Wilks he said something like we are running Wilks scheme. This is another goal post move from before, where he said they are both creating a defensive scheme, which is a blend of both. But I'll play along. So, does that mean we are changing the scheme next year since Wilks is gone? And if so, whatever we were building this year on defense needs to change. So, we didn't build anything on defense then, it will need to start from scratch. Basically a year wasted. Even though Glenn is a defensive background coach. And on offense, we got no results. We were building around Fields who is gone. Our QB coach is a former RB and RB coach, who literally has 0 successful QBs on his resume, only regressions. Presumably here to match up better with Fields' skill set, a blend of run and pass. But whatever we had was not working, we are bottom 5 in the NFL. So, what was built on offense? It just seems like we have to figure it out all over again. And with Fields gone do we have to build new scheme that works and try it out? Get a new QB coach. Basically a year wasted. It just makes no sense to me to bring him back and start essentially all over but with historically bad year 1 in the books. And if we keep Glenn, positional coaches we need might be wary to come here after such failure as it could be a 1 year stop. Not easy to move family, etc, for 1 year. Let's take the good things, like Mooge, Bajio, maybe a couple of others, and just start all over with someone who hasn't had historically bad year. Wouldn't that give significantly higher probability of success? Am I completely off base here? What am I missing?
Actually let me backtrack, Malachi Moore looks like a possible starter. That's potentially huge. The jury is out and it's true, these are real dart throws on Day 3. As it stands now, Arian Smith looks like a dreadful pick, as it did from the start. Baron too. Mauioga is limited but he has shown something. But his first three picks look like starters already, which is phenomenal
I listened to his interview. He gave credit to Mooge for scouting, getting deals, etc. He does have to sign off on it, yes, but Mooge is the one doing the work. So, Glenn is a part of it sure, but Mooge is the driving force there.
