I think after 43 years of being a Jets fan I am finally broken. This team is non competitive and has been for a long time. The last 15 years has been brutal. So bad we can't even get the number 1 pick. When we do have a top 5 pick can't get the right qb. But the Patriots can get one. Anyone can get one. Rodgers brutal with us. Leads the Steelers probably to first place and the playoffs. The football god's, Namath curse I don't know. It's sad. Can anyone find us hope. I don't see it. Want to believe in Glenn then see what Vrable, Johnson and Cohen are doing. I get it they have first rd qbs but ugh this is brutal. Someone please give me hope.
I stopped caring during the Gase years (or maybe during the Bowles years? IDK). Unless the Jets get new ownership, this team will never be worth caring about again. There are no Parcells level people out there willing to come save this organization again.
42 years a fan here.....yeah, it's been rough to say the least. I'm not sure there is any hope. I've lost count of how many rebuilds I've seen at this point.
40 years a fan here and outside of literally a handful of seasons it has been a constant stream of disappointment - as an overseas fan I could've picked any team and outside of the Browns I would say any other team would have given me more moments of enjoyment than the Jets have managed (the one that always gets me is I was going to go with the Patriots but I thought the logo on their helmet looked goofy ) I am a pure darksider and always assume the worst and am very rarely proven to be wrong in doing so - the only positive is I used to get really invested in how the team was doing and if they lost I would be 'gutted' but nowadays I just don't really care at all
I gave up the instant I saw Adam Gase was hired. I'm back because I like Aaron Glenn as a dude. I haven't seen much to write home about as a coach-- but I haven't seen much that impressed me out of a Jets' head coach since Parcells. I figure good coaching and good play on the field is too much to ask of this organization. I figure an incompetent coach I like is better than an incompetent coach I don't like, and those are the only options on the table for this organization for the foreseeable.
Depends on your definition of "meaningful". 60+ year fan here and we've had meaningful games over that span. They usually happen once a decade or so. The most recent "meaningful" game was yesterday. We lost the game, but gained in the overall draft race. The fact that we would have lost position if we had won made that game meaningful. After so many decades of losing, unless you redefine success, you will either go mad or go away. This year, success is getting as far up the draft position pole we can in order to draft either a QBoTF or other grade A talent. No illusions of playoffs or relevance. Just taking the small victories as they come.
