He lost a ton of games and behaved like he was Parcells or Belichick. He deserves to have the fanbase turn on him and he deserves to be fired. It's not the fans' fault the owner is an idiot and hired the wrong guy (again).
Whatever Criticism he gets he deserves. This team has not improved except for ST. He should be fired but will be back and we will see the same arragorant fool lose games.
It's been obvious Glenn isn't a good coach since about week 4. We've won 3 games and 2 of those were basically entirely because of special teams. Our defense regressed significantly with most of the same players as last year. We're the first team in NFL history with 0 interceptions through 15 games. En route to the NFL record for fewest takeaways in a season as well. We have to stop the excuses. Glenn should absolutely be fired after the season. He won't be, because Woody is a moron who is always a year too late, but he should be. Hated the hire from the start and I hate it even more now. Woody is a bad coaching candidate's dream. He's so easily fooled by platitudes, bullshit, and nostalgia. He wouldn't know what a good X's and O's coach looked like if it smacked him in the face. Just beyond tired of how predictable this always is. Glenn was never a good candidate. Another thing that aggravates me about Glenn is the arrogance. He truly thought he was the guy. No humility. All the talk of "We have good players, they've just never been coached correctly" only to have everyone perform worse than they did under Saleh. All the "We expect to win now, this isn't a rebuild" followed by "Big ships turn slowly" once the team sucked. All the arrogance with the media, calling them idiots for suggesting a QB change only to change the QB the following week. The guy is a disaster.
Sad part is it really didn’t take a few weeks to see it. I’m not the only one here who was saying this as soon as the hire was announced. Many people knew hiring yet another rookie DC to be HC was the wrong move. Unfortunately the only guy whose opinion mattered is a clueless imbecile who doesn’t know jack fucking shit
This is the biggest thing. We heard all about how Fields had never been coached correctly, only for him to have the worst season of his career. And, not only that, but the guy that they couldn't wait to get rid of in order to bring Fields in goes on to lead his new team to the playoffs. And then we hear all about how the team was going to get the penalty situation cleared up from the past few years. That clearly has not happened. He's a defensive coach, but the defense has been terrible and he's had to fire his DC before the first season was even over. And all of the talk about Wilkes being brought here to run "his scheme" when one would think that the defensive head coach who was brought here, one would think, because of what he did as a defensive coach in New Orleans and Detroit, would be running the scheme that got him the job. This whole thing has been a disaster and there is quite literally nothing to point to heading into 2026 where we can say that the New York Jets have improved and are headed in the right direction. This team was bad last year and yet, somehow, they're headed even further in the wrong direction.
I don’t know what so-called “scheme” this defense is supposed to be running but I do love the intention to let receivers run free all over the field…how many catches did we see where there were no defenders within 5 yards of the receiver? I lost count. Like so many have already said, yes our talent was lacking, but it sure as shit wasn’t THIS bad…this was not an 0-7 roster going into the season. I fucking knew AG was the wrong hire, and I loved him as a player. But Woody is a fucking idiot, he will also listen to the damn media who is going to say we need talent and consistency, and we will have to watch this shit show for another year until Woody will be forced to fire AG when the team doesn’t improve.
Yeah, remember how he was asked what would make a successful 2025 season, and he responded, a team the fans would be proud of. He was recently reminded of that and responded: I never said the fans would be proud of the team right now. I like him personally because he was a former Jet, a great player, and I know he wanted that 1998 conference finals game back when we lost 10:0 lead to Denver. It was his dream job, and he is not only a coach, but also a former player and a fan of this team. He is easy to root for, and it really sucks that he failed. But the problem is, he is just not a good coach. He was never qualified for the job because he was a defensive coach of a team that with with the offense and wasn't a very good DC even to begin with. We gave him a chance still, but you don't go from a little below average DC to historically bad HC, to then a great HC. As much as it sucks on a personal level, the right thing to do is to move on from Glenn now. It's identical situation to Kraft and Mayo. The problem is that Woody never does the right thing.
Glenn came in thinking he was all that. He talked liked it. Treated people like it. Since Woody won't fire him the best thing is perhaps the NFL humbled him and he uses the off-season to rethink his approach. Perhaps watching Aaron Rodgers in the playoffs will help him with that considering that was the guy he couldn't wait to lay the law down on to supposedly clean up the Jets franchise.
If the NFL had relegation, the Jets would have dropped into the high school ranks by now. Sent from my SM-X820 using Tapatalk
There are THOUSANDS of Jet fans who are dead serious about Rex. Until we get a coach in here who has a modicum of success - ANY success - people will keep pining for him because he's the last guy to do that. Like an ex who gave you some great times but ultimately turned out to be a disaster - he/she looks far better in your memories than the reality was. Sent from my SM-X820 using Tapatalk
I knew he was an asshole when he made a first ballot hall of fame QB fly across the country just to fire him...
I think it's fairly obvious, it's been proved over and over and over again, that in the NFL coaching makes a lot of the difference. Sure, there are insanely good players who put teams over the top, but for the most part, even the entry-level starters are good players. It mostly comes down to prepration and scheme. The Jets, for YEARS, have had nothing going in either department. Even the "better" times under Saleh here and there, Bowles here and there, and.........that's it..........it's just been a clinic on a lack of footbal IQ, guys shooting themselves in the foot with bad penalties, bad drops, missed tackles, etc. Never in the right place at the right time, horrible clock management, horrible adjustments (or lack thereof), frighteningly bad game plans that don't attack the opponents' weaknesses, but instead try to push what the coach at a given time WANTS to do - it never ends. Until such time that the Jets actually hire someone who's somewhat competent, shit - on EITHER side of the ball, give me a buttoned up offense OR defense - they will continue to flounder and win only when everything goes their way and lose, mostly badly, the rest of the time. I can't remember offhand the last time the Jets played a solid, well-rounded game in all three phases of the game. I've literally forgotten what it feels like to be pumped up for a game and expecting my team to win. I've been relegated to rooting for draft picks and watching the scoreboard for bad teams to lose rather than the way it's supposed to be done. 10 years since we had a game to truly root for a win and be excited - 10 YEARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's been nothing but incompetence all along since them. And it all starts with coaching. Sent from my SM-X820 using Tapatalk
Also scouting and development makes a huge difference and Woody keeps hiring the wrong people there time and time ago, the organization hasn't sniffed the playoffs in 15 years because they can't hit on or develop a quarterback, which led to draft capital and salary cap wasted on journey man like Rodgers and Fields. Simply put not being able to hit on/develop a quarterback has led to our demise time and time again. Since Chad Pennington we have gone thru 18 different starting Qbs. What other functional organization has done that?
I’d be down with any one of those options. Glenn is not a HC period. Like I said he’s not even a good DC…
Add to that, owning the Patriots was Kraft's dream and passion, owning the Jets was a distraction from boredom for Woody. It was something to give him an identity. It's so fucking funny. At our expense, of course.
Looks guys, I've shitted on Glenn and Woody plenty when they deserved it, but Rodgers won 5 games here in two years and he is old. We had to try something different. Whether it is finding another Sam/Baker via proverbial lottery ticket or drafting a QB... Rodgers was not the answer for sustained success. To Rodgers' credit he is performing similarly to last year with slightly lower QBR and PFF ratings, but he did not drop off a cliff, he is still a little below average NFL QB. With him this year we probably win 5 games again, instead of 3, still being in shit but ruining a chance to draft a long term QB. So, to get rid of him was the right move. As far as how to get rid of him, if Glenn called him, AR would complain that did not give a curtesy of face to face. If they did face to face, he complained about that too. There is no right way to get rid of a HOF QB like that. But it was the right move to try something else. This is the least of the concerns I have about Woody and Glenn.
I was hugely in favor of getting AR. I really thought he would be here for 3 years and our defense the year before was exceptional. So the combination of a renewed offense plus defense would lead to playoffs. Well we know what happened. Plus the people they got to surround AR were of course terrible, from Hackett on down. A strong coach/GM would have canned all the losers after the first year...no AR anyway...and tried to get difference makers. They DID NOT do this. Now our current coach/GM is faced with a similar situation. Wilks a goner. Many players should be goners, but they extended some marginal guys like Ruckert. So we need to see if AG/DM have what it takes to cut/get/draft competence. They should have next year to show what the can do
What I can’t stand is how Glenn “gets a pass”. We’ve had countless coaches “getting pass” before realizing they’re not the guy. If Glenn gets a pass it’s because he needs a pass. I’d like a coach for once that proves himself and doesn’t need a pass (nice word for excuse). Honestly, what great coach got a pass?
