One of the most exciting Jets games this year. This game will determine our draft position big time. We will lose last 2 games of the season to Bills and Patriots most likely and for our high pick prospects, this game plays a very important role. I will hope for a loss personally to solidify our chances of a Top 4 pick in the upcoming draft. That being said I expect a very solid Jets win in the Jetsiest fashion.
Should have kept Wilks another week since we need this loss, I'm sure Glenn can hold down the fort in his absence.
Jets will do what the Jets do best - win meaningless games to hurt their draft position - a close win for the Jets at the death with the Saints doing everything they can to lose.
This is a must lose. We need to save as much draft capital as possible for when we trade up for the overdrafted bust 2nd QB on the board.
This is basically what Jets fandom has become. The games don't matter, only the draft and the pipe dreams fans have afterwards. Our Super Bowl is the "dress rehearsal" preseason game and our off-season begins NFL Opening Week.
They suck at the draft too. And few times they hit on picks sometimes get into contract disputes/don't want to pay them Abraham, Revis, Adams then trade them away or just trade them away as they did this season with Sauce & Quinnen.
That doesn't matter because the games don't matter. Only how those guys do during camp in limited reports.
Yes, which reminds me, everyone is cordially invited to my April 25th tailgate. I have a selection of vintage Bordeaux and pates for the UDFA signing period.
This pisses me off SO much…and we actually have a great time rationalizing why trading these guys is the right thing to do…it’s mind-boggling to me. It is what it is but our GMs have sucked, and the few times they get a good player, then we typically get a new GM who trades away the one or two good players because he thinks he can do better, and the coaches continue to suck, and here we are. With Abraham it was he got hurt too much, with Revis it was he was greedy, with Keyshawn it was he was a selfish player, with Hugh Douglas it was he didn’t fit Parcells’ system…always some rationalization. The only one who gets a pass is Parcells because while I still believe he could’ve/should’ve found a use for Douglas who was a great pass rusher, at least Parcells built a real team and had success. None of the other clowns we had for GM/HC ever did. In hindsight the only one of these trades that worked out was probably Adams as he got hurt and in any case he was a safety whose best skill was rushing the passer, so yeah I get it. I guess you can argue that the Abraham trade is what netted us the pick that Tanny used to get Mangold, but still we could have used a pass rusher like Abraham. So while I hated trading Sauce and Q both, at least we got a huge haul of picks and it’s hard to get too upset when we end up with 5 first round picks in two years, so that for sure takes the sting out, but still.
This all day long. We know how this story goes, don't we brother? This team absolutely needs as high as they can get in the draft so, just for that very reason, they'll win. Toss on Wilks firing and that always adds a little more juice to a game so, yeah. I get why Glenn did it but damn...could you have waited a whole week? You know, we all tend to forget who is going to be drafting ahead of us. Neither Cleveland nor the Raiders are known for their football operations. Davis is every bit of a wild card as a guy like Jerry Jones and others. He could easily draft a fucking kicker at #1 as a QB. That guy has all the benefit of being around professional football his entire life and probably couldn't tell you more than someone like Brick Woodruff. That's fucking sad. Cleveland's problem is they have an owner who thinks he's Art Rooney but without the football knowledge. Nothing in this upcoming draft will end up being a slam dunk if all these teams hold true to form and try to outsmart one another.
Just trolled the saints forum just to see what they thought of this game and the resounding concensus over there is just that they dodged a bullet not hiring Glenn lol. Apparently some over there wanted them to interview him and are obviously happy they didn't. As far as the score they mostly think we will win but that's just because they have a similar hatred of their team that we do of ours.
Just looked. Jets are 4.5 points underdogs in this game. Jets Moneyline pays +180. Time to throw $100 for a Jets win to ease the pain if they win and screw the draft spot.
I'm curious how the defense looks with Chris Harris, even though theyre short on talent and decimated by injuries. Sometimes there's a bump in production when a new coordinator steps in. I'm going to guess they get their first INT next week.
There would almost have to be a bump in production over what they've done the last two weeks. The defensive performance against Miami and Jacksonville have been two of the worst defensive performances I've ever seen at the professional level. Tua and Lawrence looked like they were running plays against air at times. There were several passes in these games that, when the opposing receiver caught the ball, there wasn't a single Jet to be found on my TV screen.
I can't see the Jets winning another game. They aren't even competitive at this point. The secondary is in shambles and the linebackers suck. No sacks, no turnovers, and no talent.
I had a feeling for a while we'd finally get that INT vs the Saints, and now that Wilks is gone, it's bound to happen. It's gonna be a weird one tho, like deflected at the LOS and Clemons comes down with it.
