Bowl season is trending more towards death with each year. They need to put a financial incentive into these games to get the players to play. There’s enough money flying around the sport to make it happen.

Pop-Tarts can’t put a $10 million prize for the winning team? $110K per player.

The following have opted out of bowls. That includes 3 bowl eligible teams in Iowa State, Notre Dame and Kansas State. Their time is better spent recruiting and preparing for the transfer portal rather than preparing for these useless games.

    • Florida State
    • Auburn
    • UCF
    • Baylor
    • Kansas
    • Rutgers
    • Temple
    • Notre Dame

Notre Dame's quasi-affiliation with the ACC screwed them so bad. .

And how does the ACC reward their partnership with their conference? By pitting them against Miami and railing against their inclusion in the playoff all november long. WTF is that? Why not a campaign for both ND and Miami against teams like Tulane, JMU and Alabama....

They should've played in a bowl game but the next thing they should do is pull their sports from the ACC, every other conference would kill to have them anyway and they might get treated a little better

Eh we normally agree on CFB but I disagree. Notre Dame played a bunch of bottom feeders and 3 good teams, 2 at home, one coming across the country (USC) and they’re awful traveling east.

Notre Dame got screwed when Miami didn’t roll through the ACC like they should’ve. Sucks, but they played a bunch of bottom feeders and Boise State who was obviously going to be down this year.

Also, all their crying is ridiculous. Not playing a bowl game, bitching about the ACC, etc. The ACC actually did them a favor during the COVID year to let them join so they could play. They won’t join a conference because they’re douchey Notre Dame so why would the ACC not push for Miami, a conference member to get in?

In some ways it is kinda like a loan, right? The private company will give out funds for players but when that TV and gameday revenue comes in, they will come knocking

You can just see the tension that will come up here. You have a for-profit company "sharing" the money but the university determining WHO gets it and how much. How is that going to work well? The first 4-8 football season will test their relationship lol

    --

Having said that, the alternative from other universities has been raising student fees & tuition greatly as well as cutting whole university initiatives just to pay for players on a year to year basis.

That seems immoral to me for public, taxpayer funded schools, so this is a better alternative

So how does this play out in the long run? I can't see these sports programs remaining with the schools forever. It's only a matter of time before rich assholes start trying figure out ways to buy the football programs from them?

Michigan’s going to be a mess. Everyone’s going to transfer out and they have no chance to hire anyone legitimate at this point.

I’m sure they throw a bag at Marcus Freeman but why would he leave this late into the cycle? They have the 4th highest recruiting class in the country and a young team that will return a lot. Plus a stud QB.

I wonder if all the kids that committed to Michigan last week can back out? I know if a coach is fired after the transfer portal they can transfer.

Michigan hires Alabama’s coach. Kiffin spills coffee on that LSU contract before the ink dries, finding his way to Alabama. LSU sues. Good old fashioned silly season

I'm not seeing it, not for all the repercussions. She either has a great personality or does anal.
