The Tankathon standings are, as far as I'm concerned, rather pointless. This team needs to go out and win games. Period. At some point, the stench of incompetence and failure that just pervades through this franchise has to be taken care of, and that can only be done by winning. They have some games against some bad teams coming up. They need to win some of these games.
That ESPN trade Miller proposed right now seems VERY realistic... We wight need to jump a few teams if we want to have a decent QB next year.
Recent history shows this is not the case. Look at NE and the tank job they did for Maye. Bob got that meaningless win to stick it to Belichick and another one when Greg kicked a long FG against Washington. We lose these two games, and we get Maye. But now, NE got Maye and now MVP candidate at QB for 15 years contending for #1 seed. And for us Greg missed these same kicks next season when it actually mattered. Until we get a QB these meaningless wins won't matter. Sucks but true.
I do agree with this, especially now because they are rolling with young players and staff that will be here next year It’s not like last season with an interim coach, a 40 year old Rodgers and Devante Adams. That team did not need to win any games, kinda pointless. These guys it would help them for sure. Even just playing with a lead would help them be better next season
Can you guys explain then how when Bob beat Belichick and NE to get an extra win and handed them Maye on a solver platter, helped us, and not winning that game hurt NE? How Greg hitting that long FG to beat Washington that handed them Daniels helped us, and them losing hurt them? We lose both these games, and we get Maye. But no, we won these two games, they lost, and then what? We lost more next two years and NE got Maye who is MVP candidate in his second year, and Washington got Daniels and went to conference finals. Look, I know it feels like winning a couple of extra meaningless games will help in the future somehow, but it doesn't. We just experienced it 1st hand in the examples I gave in 2023. So, IMO, the only thing that helps is winning meaningful games. That and a good QB, whom we need to find a way to get. Just like when NE and Washington found theirs, even though they "lost" and we "won".
no one has said losing hurt NE and Washington. We are saying this particular team would benefit from winning. every season and situation is different and it’s not as simple as those examples you are really stretching with
I don't know BN. This particular team didn't benefit from winning a few meaningless games under Gase and under Bob. I am not suggesting for the players or coaches to tank. But as fans of this team, given recent history, winning a few extra meaningless games didn't help us. It only helped others draft their FQB. And they are doing well while we still suck. We need to find a way to draft a good QB. Until then we are fucked.
Why is anyone giving Borat a hard time is beyond me. Meaningless wins do nothing but hurt this team. I want AG gone and be exposed. I want a top pick to make this job attractive for head coach candidates. Sick and tired of Woody, his wrong head coach choices. We are not going anywhere with Glenn. Better pick as high as possible and get good players. That said we probably win 2 more games one of which the Falcons game this Sunday and be outside of Top 5.
And another thing is, even if this coaching staff stays and sucks next year, if we are able to draft a good QB, he can still be with us for next dozen years after this regime. Vrabel didn't draft Maye. Previous regime did, stayed there for a year, they got canned, different regime came and Maye is MVP candidate now leading his team to #1 seed and will be torching if for next dozen+ years. We have a recent example right in front of us, in our own division. The team we literally helped get their new FQB by beating them in a meaningless last game of the 2023 season that gave them a pick to draft Maye straight up. And yet people still think winning meaningless games matters somehow after what we just saw with Bob and Gase and other teams that outtanked us getting their FQB. I understand it makes you feel good short term, and I can't tell anyone how to be a fan. But when you need a QB, smart play is to pick as high as possible. It's not impossible even for failing regime to pick the right QB. NE did it with Maye, promptly got canned, but Maye is there to stay. But you need a high pick, it's as simple as that.
